00:00Evolution kickboxer Shiba Tulsi, 19 years old, will be heading to Suriname to take part in the RISE K1 tournament.
00:07He's facing an undefeated fighter in a country that he's never fought in before.
00:11The odds are stacked against him. However, he is still confident that he will leave as a champion.
00:16I feel confident being coached by my current coach, Jason Romata, and going to Suriname in Simpsons gym.
00:25I'll be coached by Angelo Simpson, a world-renowned coach, and a world champion as well.
00:31This tournament is a little different from his usual rumble. It's the K1 brand of kickboxing.
00:37It's style, it involves knees, clenches, sweeps, and it's in K1.
00:45I've never fought in a competitive K1 tournament before, so I hope to win and come out victorious.
00:51He will be undergoing a camp before the competition, and he will be drawing confidence from his last fight.
00:58My last fight, I fought against a Suriname fighter from the same gym, and I won.
01:05He was tough to put on, but in the end, we came out victorious.
01:09His coach, Jason Romata, says winning is of utmost importance.
01:13We're going to fight at the rise in the hopes that Shiva does well, and once he does well, he will be entitled to fight for either a Caribbean or continental title at a bigger event called Chosun, which is sometime later down in the year in Suriname itself.
01:28Do you think he's ready for this competition?
01:30Yes, he's not quite ready. We still have three weeks to go, but he has been doing a lot of endurance work, a lot of technical work, and then he's going into a training camp in Suriname for three weeks there.
01:43So at the end of that training camp, he's going to be fully ready, yes.
01:46The competition takes place on Saturday, July 5th.
