After a brilliant batting display saw the West Indies drawing the Christchurch test,
00:04
a different side showed up for Game 2 in Wellington.
00:07
This as the men in Maroon were thrashed by New Zealand by 9 wickets inside 3 days to trail 1-0.
00:12
It now means new windy skipper Roston Chase has tasted 6 defeats in his 7 matches as leader of the side.
00:19
Obviously disappointed.
00:22
Thought we were in a good position up to this morning.
00:25
Even though in the first innings we thought that we should have got some more runs.
00:30
A number of batsmen getting some starts but we didn't really convert into anything big.
00:35
So we thought that we left some runs out there in the first innings and we thought that we would have gotten those runs in the second innings.
00:41
But it didn't happen so very disappointing for us after the bowlers really put up their hands and brought us back into the game.
00:50
Chase felt the wicket was good to bat on compared to the one in Christchurch.
00:54
Despite that, the Windies could not capitalize on the absence of injured blackcap spacer Blair Tickner who did not bowl in the second innings.
01:02
Personally, I thought it was not as tough as the first game in Christchurch.
01:08
I thought the first innings in Christchurch the ball was doing a whole lot but I didn't think that was the case here.
01:13
I just thought we just made some mistakes at some crucial points in the game and we just never really got our foot back into the game today.
01:25
The loss sees the West Indies at the bottom of the World Test Championships table.
01:30
Despite the situation, Chase and his men are keen to make it 1-1 since the Windies last won a series in New Zealand in 1995.
01:38
We still think that we are capable enough to get a win but it's just for the, I think for the batting to be consistent.
01:45
Because the bowlers have shown that they're capable of getting us those 10 wickets, 20 wickets that we need to get.
01:51
So I just think it's for the batting to come up to par.
01:55
The final test takes place in Mount Manganui on Wednesday from 6 p.m. TNT time.
