A bad day at the office.

That's how Dwight Yorke described T&T's 5-0 whooping by the United States in the Gold Cup opener.

Yorke was honest about not only the team’s performance but the difference in quality between T&T and the Americans.

00:00When you lose as soundly as TNT were beaten yesterday in their Gold Cup opener, there isn't much you can give as an excuse.
00:07And head coach Dwight York wasn't sugarcoating the performance as he conceded the original game plan did not work.
00:13Yeah, I think it was a difficult day today. We haven't assessed too many of the players.
00:18We know first half we were poor in every department.
00:21We felt that the Americans were kind of ahead of us every step of the way in terms of anticipation,
00:28in terms of creativity, in terms of taking control of the game.
00:32We just couldn't seem to have a foothold in the game.
00:35And from that moment, we were always up against it.
00:37We know we were away from home and we were going to try and make it difficult for the Americans today.
00:42But somehow we didn't manage.
00:44And then we thought even at 1-0 and we can maintain them at halftime,
00:50we were going to change the formation that was already talked about before we conceded again.
00:55And the former TNT captain acknowledged the quality gap between the two teams,
01:00but is committed to closing that gap.
01:03You know, I praise my players as much as I can and I will always support them in every sense of the way.
01:08Today we wasn't at the races and it gives us an indication,
01:12the gap at international level and to where some of my players are playing at the moment.
01:17We know there is still a lot of work to be done.
01:19And we will continue to work and try and close that gap as best as possible.
01:23But it's a clear indication that there is still a lot of work ahead of us to do.
01:28But you can certainly see the class in where we are at the moment as a country.
01:35And while you wouldn't expect much positives from the TNT performance,
01:39he did identify one while looking ahead to the next contest.
01:42I felt second half we did a little bit better.
01:46And of course created one and two chances, but the game was already over.
01:50And then when you reflect on, it's just a bad day at the office, I would say.
01:54And we need to put that behind us very quickly because there's two more games to go.
01:58And you know, with two more games to go,
02:00certainly we got to win maximum points against Haiti.
02:04And that would be the intention going forward.
02:06Terence Clark, 264.
