00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's been a muggy night, uncomfortable for some, and there's some very wet weather around as well.
00:10Warning zones this morning for thunderstorms include the West Country, Wales, as well as Northern Ireland.
00:17As this thundry rain continues its movements northwards, now expect some intense downpours,
00:23gusts associated with any heavy bursts up to 40-50 mph and there will be some lightning around.
00:29Through the afternoon into evening time, it does push northwards and there will be thundry downpours elsewhere,
00:35but mostly the most persistent thundry rain will be always across more western areas.
00:41Elsewhere through this morning, it's a fine start, some hazy sunshine, feeling warm.
00:46Still that brisk breeze along the eastern side there and further showers developing across England and Wales as they push northwards.
00:53Some wet weather to come through the morning into the afternoon for Northern Ireland.
00:57Another cluster of thundry rain extends across Wales, northwest England towards the Isle of Man and eventually all of this will reach Scotland through the latter part of the day.
01:05Before that though, temperatures here 22 degrees Celsius, but further south 24 for mid Wales, 27 across the southeast of England and temperatures will be even higher tomorrow.
01:16So let's pick up on some detail through this evening.
01:20If you are travelling, it's worth staying up to date with the forecast because there will be some heavy and even impactful rain around.
01:28Through this evening then, you can see where most of it is.
01:31This is the heaviest rain pushing across Scotland.
01:34Now further south, we'll see further showers develop and again extend their way northwards with quite a blustery breeze.
01:42For many, it's a dry night with some clearer skies and certainly a drier night for Northern Ireland.
01:48Although one or two showers in the mix and they will run in across the Irish Sea coast as we head into Friday.
01:54Friday dawn's fine with some sunshine again, some showers which will develop and push northwards.
02:00They'll be fairly scattered, but notice waiting in the wings, more showers blossoming and this could be an impactful area of thundry rain as it extends across through Friday afternoon and into evening time.
02:13Now it's going to be a humid day tomorrow, hotter than today.
02:17Temperatures 23 for the central belt of Scotland, possibly 20 to 22 for Northern Ireland to help with some sunshine.
02:24North Wales 24, mid Wales 26, the south east of England 29, places such as Cambridgeshire we could actually see 30 degrees Celsius.
02:32Here's your warning zone through the latter part of Friday and overnight.
02:37This is where we're expecting some really heavy downpours of thundry rain.
02:42It's all coming in from the south like it has done over the past 24 hours.
02:47So it's developing across Channel Coast and moving its way northwards.
02:51So if you are setting out or travelling through Friday evening, keep an eye on the forecast because you could run into some really quite intense and torrential downpours with thunder, lightning as well as hail.
03:04There'll be showers elsewhere just pushing northwards yet again into Saturday.
03:09So the focus of this showery rain, these thundry downpours will be across more northern areas on Saturday.
03:16A few showers running in towards the west Saturday towards the south, but you'll see some drier weather, some sunshine coming through and temperatures not as high.
03:25So generally speaking towards the northwest, temperatures perhaps peaking around 19 or 20, 23 to 25 towards central and eastern areas.
03:35And quite a brisk breeze down towards the southwest delivering one or two scattered showers.
03:40Now less humid on Sunday, again some showers in the mix, but also some drier and brighter weather.
