00:14In a statement on Tuesday, the embassy said that on May 24th, U.S. embassy personnel working closely with Trinidad and Tobago partners facilitated the arrival of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE deportation charter flight at Piarco International Airport.
00:32The U.S. Embassy further said that the 17 Trinbagonian deportees, most with significant criminal records, arrived in Port of Spain and were processed by Trinidad and Tobago Customs and Immigration and Trinidad and Tobago Police Service personnel.
00:49The U.S. Embassy then stated that one of the deportees had an outstanding warrant in Trinidad and Tobago for robbery with aggression and failure to appear.
00:58The police service made no mention of that detail when it said on Monday that following a coordinated multi-agency operation conducted early Saturday morning, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent Edwards, head of the Special Investigations Unit, which facilitated the return of 17 individuals to Trinidad and Tobago, the TTPS is actively collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure smooth and structured reintegration into society.
