00:04I always say when I talk to Chris Jansen, he takes me to church because you've got such a good heart, dude.

00:08Thank you, brother.

00:09Every time I see you on our list, maybe we're getting ready for the morning show,

00:12and I'm like, Chris Jansen calling at 810.

00:14I'm like, ah, I'm going to go to church and have my heart warm, dude.

00:17I love your attitude.

00:18You've been in this industry, and you've always kept that positive light.

00:21You're crushing it.

00:22I love getting a chance to talk with you.

00:24Well, I appreciate you both for having me, and thanks for the kind words.

00:27Hey, I'm going to tell you like I've always said, but in a brief synopsis today, man, I woke up today.

00:33We woke up today.

00:33We were so blessed to be alive, and I'm going to tell you straight.

00:37We just got in from Florida.

00:39We literally flew back for remotes for CMAs, and I was on the dock late last night with my kid,

00:46and he was fishing, and a friend of mine said, man, stay blessed and keep having a happy day,

00:51and I said, yeah, that's right.

00:52That's exactly my motto, too.

00:54That is so perfect.

00:55Right?

00:55Just get up in the morning, man.

00:58For those of you watching out there, this is all just smoke and mirrors.

01:01I mean, nobody really cares at the end of the day.

01:02It's like all I do is sing songs, and all you guys are playing them, you know?

01:06Yeah.

01:06But at the end of the day, man, it's who are we blessing along the way.

01:08For sure.

01:09You guys got the voice to bless people.

01:11All right, I'm going to get off my soapbox.

01:12No, no, no.

01:13That's why I wanted to bring it up.

01:14It's the truth, man.

01:15Because anybody listening or seeing this, you needed that dose today.

01:18You needed that little cup of joy.

01:20Yeah, I mean, hey, you know, like, if I was going to listen to an artist talk, first of

01:24all, when I say artist, I think painter.

01:26So, like, you know what I'm saying?

01:28Let's just start there.

01:29Yeah.

01:29Okay, so let's get on the real level.

01:30Right.

01:31When I want to hear a singer talk, I don't want to hear them talk about themselves.

01:34I want to hear them talk about, you know, like, what really matters in the world.

01:37Right.

01:37And there is a whole big world outside of music.

01:40And I just hope my music can bless people.

01:43And thankfully, people have blessed me, you know, and that's the bottom line.

01:47I know you're a big family guy.

01:49And I was reading through the notes.

01:51And I was so excited that Chris Jansen's here because I'm also a Christmas vacation nerd.

01:56And Chris, I've watched it so much.

01:58We started watching it in other languages.

02:00I had on this morning, man.

02:00And I pick up other languages from Christmas vacation.

02:03It's the best.

02:04Dude.

02:05I didn't know what that means.

02:09I stole it from Crocodile Dundee.

02:11When the cat blows up in the tree in Christmas vacation.

02:14Yeah, it's awesome.

02:14I've seen it 300 times.

02:15I'll laugh every single time.

02:16I learn something new every time.

02:18And when I recorded Holiday Road, I was like, shouldn't we be focusing on All I Need Is You?

02:23They're like, oh, no, it's doing great.

02:24You know, and it is.

02:25It's almost top 10.

02:25But that was like, all right.

02:26So then I shifted focus for one second onto cutting a Christmas single.

02:30Hey, brother.

02:31That's my neighbor in Florida.

02:33Brian Kelly just walked by.

02:34That's my neighbor.

02:36And he really is.

02:37And so, but anyway, I cut Holiday Road.

02:39And, man, I did it because of guys like us, right?

02:41Super nerds for the movie.

02:43Well, yeah, because it's on at my house this morning for real on AMC.

02:45I love that.

02:46And so I keep it on all the time because it gets me in the vibe, you know?

02:49Yeah.

02:49And, man, they want me to cut a Christmas song.

02:52And, like, everybody cuts normal Christmas songs, you know?

02:54And I'm like, I'm not going to do that.

02:55So I wanted to cut something nobody else cut, and that was it.

02:59Chris, I've got to ask you because I'm going to be in Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo.

03:04Oh, me and Cody will be there.

03:05I know.

03:06How exciting is that?

03:07Tell us what it's like performing in Las Vegas, especially during the NFR.

03:11Well, it's great.

03:12I've been doing it for a lot of years at different venues and whatever.

03:15But me and Cody are teaming up this year at the arena.

03:18We've been friends for a long time.

03:20He and I, great guy.

03:22I wrote Build a Fire for him on his last record.

03:24Oh, love that song.

03:26Thanks, man.

03:26That's a CJ song.

03:28Yeah, that's so cool.

03:29That's like a show opener sometimes, which is unbelievable.

03:32It's a great tour package.

03:33I encourage everybody to come see us.

03:35But, man, playing down there, you know, Cody's a real cowboy.

03:38Like, he's a – everybody wears a cowboy.

03:39He's actually a cowboy.

03:40When he's not playing during NFR, he goes and ropes.

03:43Yeah, he's cowboying.

03:44No, for real.

03:45He's cowboying, and I can rope too.

03:46I did that in my younger years.

03:48But, man, it's a great package.

03:50It's fun.

03:51And so I would vouch to say it'll probably be one of the greatest,

03:54if not the greatest, show during the NFR.

03:57Just because we're friends, it's cool, and, you know, it's a real country.

04:02It's a cowboy boot country show.

04:04And that's what we need at the NFR in Vegas.
