00:00The bigger picture is on this Beasley Media platform. I'm Beige Jr. and joining me on the Zoom right now as she turns off her camera is Ms. Kendra Grant and she is with the United Way of Cumberland County. Good morning. How are you doing?
00:16Good morning, Gilbert. How are you? I'm doing great. Now, I understand that you guys over at the United Way are smack dab in the middle of United Way Day of Caring.
00:30Yes, we are signing up volunteers for the Day of Caring right now and it will be hosted on May 13th.
00:37Okay. Now, what are people getting ready to get themselves into when they volunteer with the United Way?
00:44So, the Day of Caring is basically about bringing together, you know, thousands of volunteers just like me and you because I will be participating and we're just rolling up our sleeves and we're connecting volunteers with our community impact partners so that we can make a huge impact for one day.
01:06All right. And Kendra, let's do that over again because you froze really, really bad.
01:12I did. Yeah. Okay. Three, two, one. The bigger picture is on this Beasley Media platform. I'm Beige Jr. and joining me on the Zoom right now is Ms. Kendra Grant and she is with the United Way of Cumberland County. Good morning. How are you doing?
01:31I'm doing good, Gilbert. How are you doing this morning?
01:33Outstanding as usual. Now, for those folks that aren't familiar with the United Way, what is the United Way all about?
01:41The United Way is all about helping people in the community and meeting those critical needs that they have. So, from education to funding to basic critical needs like housing or, you know, utilities. We are here to help those in the community.
01:57And I understand that United Way is getting ready to kick off and you guys are in need of volunteers.
02:05Yes, we are looking for volunteers right now for this Friday, May 13th. We have a lot of great opportunities to connect volunteers with the nonprofits so that you can find, you know, something that you're passionate about in the community and give back and help and serve others.
02:22Yes. And how can folks volunteer?
02:25So, you can just go to unitedway-cc.org. Just hit the news and events tab and you'll see our 2022 Day of Caring. And you can just click on it, register, and choose one of the opportunities that you would like to participate in.
02:44One of the ones that we need a lot of participation in is the blood drive. Just, you can just register, go out there. It's not going to take you that long to get blood. You can go on your lunch break.
02:54People need blood. People need blood more now than ever. So, that's really vital for us. But you can also sign up for the Find a Friend program. We have Veggies for Vets. You can help pack hygiene kits. We have the Radio Reading Club.
03:08So many great volunteer opportunities happening on the 13th so that we can come together and make a huge impact in the community.
03:17And folks, where's the blood drive going to be taking place?
03:21So, the blood drive is going to be at the First Presbyterian Church. That's where the blood drive is going to be held at. And it starts at 10 a.m. and it ends at 5.
03:32All right. And before we get out of here, is there anything else you'd like to add?
03:38Just come out and join us. Have a good day. Participate. Volunteer. Help others. Meet new people. And make an impact in the community. We really appreciate all the help.
03:48Our nonprofits, they need you. They need your support. They need you to help them, you know, get things done so that they can make a better impact for those that are in need.
03:59All right. Now, you guys over at the United Way are doing great work in the community.
04:05And getting ready to roll up our sleeves for the United Way Day of Caring.
04:09All right. All right. And we're done.
04:20Thanks, Gilbert. I'm writing the press release. I'll send it to you.
04:24It's just going to be real quick, straight to the point that it's our annual day of caring again.
04:28We have a lot of things filled. Mainly, we need like 12 more people for the blood drive.
04:33And we're almost at 50-something volunteers, so trying to increase that.
04:43Well, hopefully this little push helps.
04:46Yes. Thank you so much.
04:48You're welcome.
04:49Have a good day.
