00:00How we doing everybody? It's Fever333 here at Back Alley Bikes in Detroit, Michigan.
00:04We came here today per suggestion of a Detroit local and we found ourselves somewhere
00:08incredibly important to the community. We found people that care
00:12beyond just themselves, obviously. Finding a space for the
00:16youth to feel safe, to feel empowered, to obtain resources
00:20skill sets, and really finding an effort
00:24that goes beyond themselves or right now. My name is Jeffrey Gittin
00:28and Executive Director of Back Alley Bikes slash the Hub of Detroit.
00:32We started in 1999 as a youth focused organization and our mission was
00:36to get every kid in Detroit on a bike. So the Hub here is the front facing end
00:40of it and Back Alley is our non-profit where we have youth education
00:44classes, adult open shop classes, and safe community space
00:48for anyone that wants to come and work on their bike. So we are primarily a volunteer based
00:52organization. Our volunteer nights are Wednesday and Thursdays between 4
00:56eight. So we can use all the help we can get.
01:00The youth is probably the most important asset
01:02to the improvement of
01:04our standing
01:06worldwide. And we want to say
01:08thank you
01:10for having us here today. We want to say
01:12thank you for what you do. And also just
01:14giving us a sense of inspiration
01:16in another format.
01:18We can go around and we can
01:20play loud music and we can talk to people
01:22at these demonstrations and
01:24but to come here and see the
01:26active effort being made
01:28is just
01:30a type of inspiration that we don't often get to
01:32you know, experience.
01:34So again, we just want to say
01:36thank you guys for having us. We want to say
01:38thank you to anyone that's a part of this.
01:40Anyone that will choose to be a part of this
01:42and anyone that does anything related
01:44or similar to this.
01:46We're here for you.
01:48Thank you for being here for the youth.
