The Labour Minister, believes his government has done a lot for labour over the past 5 years.

However he says there are still some matters he would have wanted to address.

00:00Minister McClatchy acknowledges that there are tensions between trade unions and government.
00:06But still, he extends an invitation to Labour to rejoin the tripartite committee, meet and discuss.
00:14He says the government has no intention of getting rid of unions.
00:19He further dismissed claims that the government has been involved in union busting.
00:25Is it our agenda to put something out there that suggests that we are busting unions
00:33and therefore it becomes politically expedient for the government to be removed?
00:39He also tells the TV6 Morning Edition there are things he wanted to complete during his term of office that are still outstanding.
00:47I am particularly disappointed as minister that we have not been able to get several of the pieces of legislation
00:57that we would have hoped to get in place that would further the working agenda of the average citizen.
01:08Minister McClatchy says it would have legally created protection in areas like severance benefits.
01:15However, he is optimistic that the drafts will be completed in the next term.
01:20I am hopeful that in the next term and I am sure you will agree with me that we will be able to do so as a matter of priority.
