00:00Whatever is out there in the open is a result of some concern by party members when they saw a release in the media that seven elected members voted for opposition leader, my MP, Ms. Beckles, and they find that strange.
00:23What happened to the other elected members? And that is what we are concerned about.
00:28Ford, who has been a member of the PNM for 57 years, tells the Morning Edition, to date, no explanation or apology has been given. He also fares that there are persons with agendas trying to get in the air of the opposition leader.
00:45I tried. No answer. No answer. And you notice what is happening. Some of the people who lost the elections are surrounding the opposition leader and making remarks that are not complimentary.
01:03They are also in the public, you know. They are also in the public. But you find it strange that those people who were complaining about Dr. Rowley and all these people, you know, they're silent on this issue.
01:16Ford says leaders must be kept in line and the party's procedures and traditions must be properly followed.
01:24He also notes some inconsistencies with the selection of the chairman and vice-chairman.
01:30The exercise was, according to members of the General Council, who have been talking out, that two members voted who were not entitled to vote.
01:41He made it clear that he is in support of Mrs. Penelope Beckles-Robinson, but his concern is over those who appear to be trying to influence her decisions.
02:05The former PNM General Secretary says it hasn't been a month yet, and rather than address national issues as the opposition, the PNM is still trying to find the right way to do things within the party.
