00:00The health minister, Terence Dyal Singh, boasts that the new central block at the Port of
00:06Spain General Hospital will usher in a new age of expediency and digitization.
00:14He was speaking on the TV6 Morning Edition earlier.
00:17Our system was what you call paper heavy.
00:20We are moving from paper heavy to paper light and ultimately paperless and central block
00:27is going to be opened between paper light and paperless.
00:33Chief Executive Officer at the NWRHA Major Anthony Blake tells us it is a complete turnaround
00:40from the old system into a modernized era.
00:44For Time Memorial we've had persons talking about not being able to get their patient
00:49records on time and one of the things that slows down health care and the delivery of
00:55health care is the availability of your medical files, your medical records and so on.
01:01So what we've done is to start over the last three years digitizing our records in preparation
01:07for the opening of the central block.
01:09He says artificial intelligence will also be utilized.
01:13Additionally, the health minister tells us the revamping of the system has already begun.
01:20If you had a scan in Port of Spain and you went Mayaro or you went Grandi Toco for the
01:26weekend and you fell, Grandi can now access your files from where you originated so we
01:35don't have to expose you to radiation again.
01:38It is happening now, you know.
01:40It is happening now.
01:41The minister says training is already underway to familiarize the staff with the new system.
