00:00Your government is working for you unlike any other. It's the tagline
00:05proffered by Youth Development Minister Foster Cummings during his contribution
00:10to the budget debate today. UNC government continues to speak about a
00:14hundred schools that they built sometime during their tenure in office. I know the
00:19Minister of Education will speak about it but we have looked high and low
00:23throughout Trinidad and Tobago and we cannot locate those hundred schools
00:27Madam Speaker and notwithstanding our pleadings to them where do these
00:35schools exist, these hundred completed schools. It is only a figment of the
00:40imagination Madam Speaker. He took time to respond to assertions made by his
00:45political opponents. They have said before that the PNM government
00:50introduced strangers to agriculture in this country. They never gave us what
00:54they meant by that. I have strong suspicions of what they were trying to
00:59say but what we have been doing is opening up the agricultural sector to
01:04involvement by young people no matter what creed or race in this country and
01:10some people on the other side seem to be a little uncomfortable about that but
01:15all we are concerned about as a government is making sure that we can
01:19feed ourselves. Meanwhile his cabinet colleague Health Minister Terence
01:23de Alsing chided political opponent Devendra Nath Tanku for utterances made
01:27the day prior. It was disgraceful to hear Arupuj West introducing to the
01:35Parliament a slang, an obscene slang used in social media WTF and he used the
01:45analogy we know what it means in social media but he used it here to say where
01:50the funds that is your Minister of Finance in waiting Trinidad and Tobago.
01:56He says funds are being used by his ministry to among other things invest in
02:03e-prescriptions and network laboratories. You do blood work it goes into your
02:09laboratory information system but what happens in Trinidad and Tobago if you
02:15are from Diego Martin and your blood work and your x-rays are in Port of
02:23Spain and you go San Fernando and you fall ill there they have to redo
02:28everything because they don't have access to your files. We are now linking
02:36all of these things it has already begun. De Alsing addressed allegations of his
02:43interference in the running of the chemistry food and drug division for
02:47clamping down on the sale of unregistered drugs by targeting small
02:51pharmacies. Cough syrups tainted with something called diethylene glycol for
02:59the layman what is diethylene glycol you see that green thick syrupy liquid you
03:07point a car arm radiator as a coolant that madam speaker is diethylene glycol
03:16diethylene glycol has found its way into the pharmaceutical supply chain and in
03:26Africa and Indonesia over 400 children have died because of kidney failure.
03:35The minister dismissed claims he said were made by the opposition regarding
03:40the quality and effectiveness of CDAP drugs. Every time somebody from the UNC
03:45talks on CDAP the drugs ain't good. My own HbA1c how I manage my diabetes on
03:57taking metformin from India varies between 4.5 to 6 over the past 10 years
04:06that is excellent. My cholesterol I got the reports this morning my total
04:14cholesterol varies between 172 and 200 by taking simple starting from where
