The Health Minister says his Ministry will be requesting a "substantial" injection of funds in the upcoming mid-year budget, part of which will be used to pay debt owed to suppliers.

00:00Whilst I may not have an exact figure at my fingertips, I can say that there are many, many outstanding bills that have to be paid to suppliers and so on.
00:11Of course, it is very important that suppliers are paid to maintain continuity of goods and supplies and drugs.
00:19So that submission is being looked at right now to get out the Permanent Secretary.
00:23But I suspect that the Ministry of Health will have to ask for substantial amounts.
00:30To be able to meet the expenses that we inherited.
00:33What is the outstanding debt that you mentioned?
00:36I'm sorry, I don't have a figure, I don't want to be held to an exact figure, but I believe it might be somewhere in the region of over 400 million dollars.
00:45But that exact figure will come about in the media budget review.
