As swim coach Anil Roberts believes it's T&T's time to shine at this year's Carifta Aquatics Championship in the month of April in this country.

While he has respect for the Bahamas, Roberts feels the twin-island nation can get the job done with home support.

00:00The National Aquatic Center is the venue for the hosting of the
00:03Carifta Aquatics Championships in Trinidad and Tobago. The dates are April
00:0619th to the 23rd making it the first time in two decades that TNT will be
00:10hosting the event. Swim coach Arnold Roberts believes this is the time for
00:14the red white and black to become champions of the region once again.
00:17Bahamas has been beating us badly in the Carifta but this year we're going to
00:22host Carifta and we have to reverse that. We owe Bahamas a good cocktail and all
00:28the coaches have been working together. The athletes are training hard. The team
00:32will probably be selected after the trials in a few weeks, in a couple weeks
00:36and we'll be hosting to beat Bahamas because we cannot take Bahamas gallerying
00:42on us. You know they're showing off with their blue and beating their
00:46drums, their junk music and gallerying. When I was coaching full-time
00:52back in the day we had won 18 years straight so Bahamas has a way to go. We
00:57are the kings and queens of Carifta swimming and we're going to host it and
01:00regain that title this year. Preparations are in progress at the
01:04center which is considered a world-class facility. As such Roberts wants the venue
01:09to be looked after properly to benefit this country's swimmers. The facility is
01:14incredible. The maintenance has not been the best over the years. Just recently
01:18four weeks ago it turned green. They gave an excuse that they were you know
01:22cleaning the roof and so on and had it covered down but even if you cover it
01:26down you have to keep a facility like that pristine. You have to maintain the
01:31levels up. A pool is like a baby. You can't leave it alone for a second but it
01:36is back in order. We are ready. All the teams will be excited to swim here. It's
01:40a fast pool. You should be getting records but most importantly our swimmers
01:45have to be ready. He sees it as history in the making with a Kuva based facility
01:50hosting the Carifta event for the first time. As such he is urging John public to
01:54support the twin island country at the event. Let me tell you something. You want
01:59to see great sport. You want to see the facility. Many people have not even seen
02:02just sitting in that facility you feel proud about it but we need the support. We
02:07need to pack there in red, red, white and black across the board to let Bahamas
02:11know that we are here to take back our title. The noise. We bring down the drums,
02:16the Tasa, the African drums. Bring the steel pan. Bring the noise that you had
02:22in panorama. Roberts is not attached to any club at the moment and therefore has
02:26the time to lend his expertise to the shortlisted national swimmers. Vinod
