00:00Speaking to the media, the Congress of the People, headquarters in Kurep,
00:04Atunia's lower Prakash Ramadar emphasized that without protection of
00:08societal rights, individual freedoms are compromised as citizens live in fear
00:13while criminals continue to send a defiant message to the government and
00:17authorities. We have not seen the sort of response that is necessary by a
00:21government who took the power of a state of emergency and has done nothing
00:27effectively with it. It came more than a squeak, nothing more than a squeak. We
00:35have not seen the sort of response in the murder of Mr. Hector who died in
00:43service of this nation as a prosecutor. To me that was an attack on his state
00:48and it came the day after the announcement of a state of emergency.
00:52That was a response in my mind for those who are responsible for it to tell the
00:58state that you are nothing. Mr. Ramadar stated that the Congress of the
01:04People's intentions are not to assign blame but to contribute to improving
01:08Trinidad and Tobago. We are putting together policies and ideas that we will
01:13share with this government if the election is not soon called and even
01:18when the election is called we expect to be in government. The ambition of the
01:22Congress of the People is not to be a talk show but to take power with ideas
01:27and put it into implementation for the benefit of all of us. Whatever political
01:32party you belong to, whatever legacy of politics you have had, the Congress of
01:38the People is your home if you are a patriot.
