00:00Prime Minister Kamlo Fasad, the SSA says data shows that serious crimes across all police divisions in Trinidad and Tobago
00:07decreased from 6,469 incidents during the January to July 20, 2025 period to 5,514 incidents during the same
00:19period in 2026.
00:20In a statement on Friday, the Prime Minister said this is the decrease in serious crimes of 955 incidents, or
00:2815% across the country.
00:30Prime Minister Fasad Bissessa, who chairs the National Security Council, said the largest decreases were achieved in the Northern Division,
00:3832%, Northeastern Division, 30%, Eastern Division, 22%, and Central Division, 22%.
00:47The Prime Minister also said the 2026 total is also 1,217 incidents less than the 2024 total for the
00:57January to July 20, 2021 period.
00:59During a PNM public meeting on Thursday night, opposition leader Penelope Beckles made reference to another statement the Prime Minister
01:06issued earlier in the week.

01:39approximately 400 less murders
01:42than projected in 2025 to July 2026, clearly shows that the TTPS and the government are making steady progress with
01:51anti-crime efforts during the state of emergency.
01:54The Prime Minister further said, quote,
01:57Trinidad and Tobago is becoming safer, but there's still a lot of work ahead to bring down the numbers further,

02:11safety, security and happiness to the communities.
