00:00And head coach Ayana Russell expects a tough challenge from Honduras in the final match.
00:04The former TNT player however admits that there's still work to be done ahead of the qualification.
00:10Naturally head coach Ayana Russell was pleased with the result and performance of the girls.
00:15However as she pointed out there's still room for improvement ahead of the Honduras match.
00:20There were some details that we gave to them in the finals that we didn't quite execute.
00:24We saw it in spurts but the movement of the ball was much better and midfield was a little bit
00:30tighter and the organization also. So some of the things that we asked for we got so again we just
00:36build on that and go to the next game. Speaking about the decisive match against Honduras on
00:40Friday, coach Russell said the focus is less on the opponent but more on themselves. Mentally as
00:46I said these girls are locked in, they're locked in for any challenge. As I said we're getting
00:51better. So we focus on what we do well. We know that it's not going to be an easy game just like
00:56tonight. So it's just about focusing on what we do well and what we need to do better. And the
01:01preparation isn't only physical and tactical but mental too. But we have TJ Williams working with
01:07us and I think Richard I don't remember his last name. Yeah right. They have been extremely,
01:13extremely helpful for the girls. They hear it from the coaches but sometimes it's different
01:18to hear it from a different voice. Just the habits, you know the habits that they do that
01:23they now try to as a culture we're trying to build for the girls. So they now come and they
01:28help them lock in. They also give them breathing techniques and different ways to kind of zone out
01:36you know the outside noise and things like that. So the mental coaches have definitely been a
01:41great addition to the staff. And the former TNT national defender also mentioned the benefits of
01:46the Jules tournament. In December we were able to get somewhat of an international environment.
01:52I think that helped a lot. So the girls are more prepared whereas usually we just go into
01:56our tournaments. I think the tournament for Citizens Jules tournament in December has helped
02:01us a lot as a staff and the girls. So the bond everything everything as I say we just keep
02:08building and building moving forward. Terence Clark, TV6 Sport. And none was more happy for
02:13the win than goal scorers Rory Gittins and Sharina Steele who shared their emotions on the victory.
02:20We know your dad is a long-time supporter of football. In 2006 in Germany he continues to
02:27back you and your teammates. How did it feel to have him and the rest of your family in this dance?
02:31It felt so great like I dedicated my goal to them because I just feel so proud of like myself for
02:37scoring and representing my country well. And all the support helps out a lot because when you know
02:43there's people there who are like supporting you and building you up it helps you to work even
02:46harder on the pitch. It feels good to carry home two wins. All we need to focus on is the last
02:54game now. We're ready to put the last game to bed and win our group stage. What was it like in the
02:59middle of the park that battle today? It was intense but you know we still had the ball we still
03:06tried to keep the ball for the majority of the game and to send the ball forward to our strikers
03:10so they could put up with the goals for us.
