Midweek storms to bring severe threat to the Gulf Coast

From San Antonio to Little Rock, thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday could produce hail, damaging winds and even isolated tornadoes.

00:00overall, this is going to impact a pretty large area. This storm, it's

00:03already kind of sent up in Arizona, but then it will strengthen as it moves

00:08east and pick ups and picks up some more moisture, bringing snow to the

00:13four corner states. And then we see some of that winter remix and then

00:16rain and thunderstorms from Corpus Christi all the way up towards

00:20Columbus, Ohio. Now, this whole area is not at risk for severe weather.

00:25It's a smaller area, but this whole area is going to see this storm in

00:28one form or another. So let's take a look at future radar and exactly how

00:32this plays out. We do start with things much more scattered as we look towards

00:36a Wednesday morning. But then, as we play this out, we start to see that

00:40line develop with the heavier downpours and those thunderstorms, the reds and

00:44yellows indicating that heavier rain. And then take a look at what happens

00:48as this moves north and east. We continue to see that heavier rain and

00:52kind of a smaller line of thunderstorms. Dallas, this could still impact your

00:57Thursday morning commute. So keep that in mind as you're making your plans for

01:00the rest of the week. But then this continues to work its way further north.

01:04And even as it works its way over, we're gonna see Jackson, Mississippi

01:08impacted New Orleans as we look towards early Friday morning. This is the area

01:13we're watching, though, for that severe weather. Everyone highlighted in yellow.

01:17This also gives you the timeline of when to expect that severe weather risk.

01:22Now, what are we expecting as far as those severe weather risk? Damaging

01:26wind gusts are most likely, as well as hail and flooding downpours. We cannot

01:31rule out isolated tornadoes, especially Thursday and Thursday night. It's just

01:35not the most likely form of severe weather that we're going to see. Here's

01:39the area that is at risk for some flash flooding, not just that area

01:43highlighted in yellow, but going much further north could see some of those

01:47heavier downpours in short periods of time that lead to that flash flooding.

01:52Here's the area that will see some rain and how much rain to expect in the

01:56darker green. That's where we're looking at 2 to 4 inches of rain with

02:00an Accuweather local storm X of seven inches. Overall, let's take a quick

02:04look at some temperatures for your Wednesday. We're in the sixties for

02:07Dallas, a little bit warmer than your historical average. We're in the fifties

02:11for Oklahoma City seventies for San Antonio. Again, a bit warmer than your

02:15historical average.
