00:00The rain and the storms, they will be emerging this evening off to the west into parts of Nebraska and
00:06the Dakotas.
00:06You can see a few of these scrappy showers.
00:09They've been kind of fighting some mid-level dry air, so they're not holding together all that well yet.
00:13But later tonight, we do expect to see some severe storms in parts of Nebraska and the Dakotas.
00:18These will be late in the late evening and into the overnight here.
00:21Meanwhile, we've had all kinds of problems there with some flooding and ice jams, and also, in this case, ice
00:29shoves.
00:29Look at how the ice shoves have kind of occurred away from the lakeshore there, a little bit inland,
00:36when the wind picks up and drives these large, large sheets of ice over the Great Lakes inland.
00:43They could be damaging in some cases.
00:45Well, here we are with the current satellite radar.
00:48Not a whole lot of fanfare there in Michigan where the snow melt continues.
00:51The ice is melting.
00:52And then we get into some thunderstorms Thursday evening.
00:55Thursday's storms will be stronger and, in some cases, severe from near maybe Green Bay or Duluth, some of these
01:01areas.
01:01Well, west of Green Bay, but Duluth into the northern part of Wisconsin, all the way down into Kansas and
01:08maybe even northern sections of Oklahoma.
01:09You can see tomorrow night some of that diving down into parts of northern Arkansas.
01:14And that slides east here into Friday.
01:16We get some wet weather, rain, maybe a few thunderstorms in the northeast.
01:19Anna will talk more about that.
01:20But the severe potential is going to be greater farther west.
01:23So Friday evening, we got some storms northeast Texas into Arkansas and eventually even into Mississippi and Alabama.
01:29We'd love to see this rain come to Georgia.
01:31That would be very good news there.
01:33Some drought relief this weekend.
01:35But the main event here for severe thunderstorms remains in the plains.
01:38So Thursday, this is the first day where we introduce the moderate, two out of four, on the four-tiered
01:44AccuWeather Severe Threat Index for this next sequence of severe weather days.
01:48So there we are, eastern Kansas, all the way up into parts of the upper Midwest.
01:53Damaging wind and hail will be concerns into western Iowa, down to Kansas as well, and in between.
01:58And some cities, Des Moines, Omaha, Kansas City, Wichita, all facing some of these threats, including isolated tornadoes as well.
02:05And it'll be very warm in many areas here.
02:07There are the storms, Wichita northward in many spots.
02:10And then into Friday, the storm threat, northeast Texas, Arkansas, and into eastern Oklahoma.
02:16The area of Little Rock could see a couple of rounds of showers and storms.
02:20Some of this will be severe here at times, especially in the evening with these clusters of storms, wind and
02:26hail are the main concerns on Friday.
02:28And then Saturday, we've got another risk here in the southern plains, so farther west.
02:32This time, we've got plenty of warmth.
02:34We have plenty of humidity.
02:35We're kind of lacking in that strong jet stream energy punch, so that's more of a limited factor.
02:42We'll go with the medium risk.
02:43And then Sunday, we have big concerns here in the southern plains and the Ozarks.
02:46There could be multiple tornadoes, damaging wind and hail once again.
02:50So, Anna, lots of moving parts here.
02:51And that's also the case in the northeast, though it may not be as much in the way of severe
02:56weather.
