00:09De Gaulle Martin West in the upcoming general election. As Prime Minister Dr.
00:13Keith Rowley had announced he would not be offering himself to be a candidate
00:17for the PNM and intends to resign as Prime Minister before the end of his
00:21term. Mr. De Vins said now it's time to return in terms of service and serving
00:27the constituents of De Gaulle Martin West. Mr. De Vins told TV6 News that
00:32quote Dr. Rowley would have done an amazing job representing the individuals
00:36of this constituency this very diverse and geographically wide constituency so
00:42now it's really to take and build on the foundation that was set and carry us
00:47forward if I am chosen end quote. An apparent reference to the process that
00:52involves the PNM's screening committee. TV6 News spoke with Mr. De Vins
00:58before Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Minister Dr. Amy Brown formally withdrew
01:02his nomination to be the PNM's candidate for De Gaulle Martin West. Mr. De Vins
01:07offered no comment to our question on that matter on Saturday however on
01:11Friday he told TV6 News that the PNM has a very stringent as well as strategic
01:17method for selecting candidates. Mr. De Vins said after he submitted his
01:21nomination papers he would have gone to a few party groups and that those party
01:26groups would have actually nominated him as their choice. He said the next step
01:30would be the screening process by the PNM's screening committee but in between
01:35that it is still a matter of him going in depth into the constituency to find
01:40out what are the needs of the constituents and what the future of De
01:44Gaulle Martin West could possibly look like. The PNM's screening committee is
01:48chaired by its political leader who is Prime Minister Rowley. Mr. De Vins said
01:53he has been speaking with those who have within the constituency done the work
01:58with and alongside Dr. Rowley to make things happen and make things progress.
02:02Mr. De Vins told TV6 News he has not been in the media officially for the
02:07past three years. Mr. De Vins said that he had been managing his production
02:11company as well as serving on the board of directors of iGovTT and has served as
02:18a member of the Community Recovery Committee of Trinidad and Tobago
02:21appointed by the Prime Minister. Mr. De Vins said he completed his Association
02:26of Chartered Certified Accountants or ACCA qualification a few years ago and
02:31his Masters of Business Administration or MBA in Leadership, Entrepreneurship
02:37and Innovation less than five years ago. Mr. De Vins told TV6 News all these
02:42things have put him in the prime position at present to come forward and
