The 2025 edition of the West Indies Championship will see the return of first innings points in drawn matches.

That's just one of a few innovations for the new season, with more in this report.

00:00Teams will be battling for the prestigious Headly Weeks trophy and a
00:03purse of 250,000 US dollars for the champions and 100,000 US dollars for the
00:08runners-up. This as the new regional 40 season rolls off on January 29th.
00:13Innovations include the return of first innings points in drawn matches, the use
00:17of kookaburra balls for two rounds and at least one pink ball day-night fixture
00:21per team. Cricket West Indies director of Cricket Miles Bascom says quote, this
00:26year we have introduced several initiatives geared at broadening the
00:29experience of our regional players by exposing them to many of the challenges
00:33they would otherwise only experience on tour unquote. The eight teams are Guyana
00:39Harpy Eagles, Barbados Pride, Combined Campuses and Colleges, Jamaica Scorpions,
00:44Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, West Indies Academy and
00:48Wynwood Islands Volcanoes. These are the TNT Red Force fixtures. They play their
00:53opener against CCC from January 29th at the Bryan Laurel Cricket Academy with the
00:57game being a day-night affair. From February 5th to the 8th, TNT will be away
01:02to Wynwood Islands Volcanoes in St. Vincent with that also being a pink ball
01:05contest. In round three which runs from February 12th to the 15th, TNT then head
01:12to Warner Park in St. Kitts to take on the Leeward Islands Hurricanes. Round four
01:16for Team Red Force is in Antigua from March 5th to the 8th with West Indies
01:20Academy being the opponents. Then from March 12th to the 15th, TNT meet Barbados
01:26Pride at the Kensington Oval in round five. Round six which is the penultimate
01:30round runs from April 2nd to the 5th with TNT playing their third day-night
01:35game. Jamaica Scorpions are the opponents and Taruba the venue. And the final round
01:42begins on April 9th with TNT hosting defending champs Guyana Harpy Eagles at
01:47the Queens Park Oval.
