00:21The West Indies are grouped alongside Bangladesh, England, Italy and Nepal for next month's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
00:30But what can we expect from them? Let's hear what cricket analyst Fazir Mohamad has to say.
00:35This year's T20 World Cup takes place from February 7th to March 8th with the West Indies playing their opener against Bangladesh.
00:42Cricket analyst Fazir Mohamad believes it's not going to be an easy tournament for the two-time champions.
00:47By any reckoning, by any stretch of the imagination, it's going to be very difficult for the West Indies to really challenge for the title itself.
00:54They really have to play above themselves. So at this stage, even without a squad being announced, the West Indies are certainly rank outsiders to lift the T20 World Cup of 2026.
01:06Having said that, Mohamad wants the men in Maroon to give it their all if they want to be champions for a third time.
01:12At the moment, the Windies are tied for most titles with England and India.
01:16What do the West Indies have to do? What are my wishes for the West Indies team?
01:19It's really not just to play to their potential, not just to play for the people of the Caribbean,
01:25but also, and this is going to be the challenge, to appreciate what they are playing for,
01:30which is the legacy of West Indies cricket, something which has been completely ignored by most of us Caribbean people,
01:35and especially cricket West Indies. But if the few of them can actually appreciate what West Indies cricket is
01:42and what it means, not just to Caribbean people, but to the rest of the world,
01:46it could make a difference in giving them that extra competitive edge.
01:50The West Indies first won the title in 2012 in Sri Lanka and four years later in India.
