00:00The young ladies in Maroon are in Malaysia as they get ready for the
00:03Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup in that country. The players have had a couple
00:07practice sessions so far and team manager Marissa Aguilera is satisfied
00:12with the work put in. I think preparation is shaping up pretty well. We had a
00:17series against the USA towards the UK and we also had a couple of camps which
00:25I think you know was really useful. The head coach Mr. Robert Samuel has been
00:30doing an extremely good job with the players together with the rest of the
00:35coaching staff and I think our main focus is to really get them to
00:40understand why they are here and who they are representing and to also to
00:47make themselves proud and to have fun. Aguilera knows about the big stage
00:51having been a player with a World Cup winning West Indies side in 2016. As such
00:56she has simple words of advice to the team going out there to represent the
01:00Caribbean in Malaysia. What I would tell the players heading into this World Cup
01:04is to know that God has created you for a time like this. You are an amazing
01:09person. You have done extremely well. We are supporting you. Continue to trust
01:15your strength and your ability. Continue to believe in yourself and everything
01:21that was taught. You put it into practice. Enjoy yourself. Have fun and
01:26continue to be bold and to be strong and know that the Lord our God is with you.
01:32So the people of the Caribbean I know that they are cheering you all on so
01:37just continue to represent and represent well. This is the second edition of the
01:42tournament with the first one not going the way the Windies wanted. However
01:46Aguilera is optimistic the team can shine saying the key word is belief. I
01:50think cricket is a really funny game and anything could happen on a given day
01:56based on what has transpired in the last World Cup. I know a lot of people would
02:02not be looking forward for us to progress but I have faith in my girls. I
02:07think they have been doing extremely well. The only thing I really think
02:11that they just need to have faith in themselves. We have never been short of
02:15ability and talent within the West Indies team but it's just about giving
02:19that passion and enjoying your cricket and playing to the best of your ability
02:24and I think all will be well. So I'll be looking forward to seeing what they do
02:28and we will be cheering them on and I'm praying and hoping that also the people
02:33of the Caribbean will be cheering them on as well. The tournament starts in
02:36under two weeks with the West Indies taking on defending champions India in
02:40their opener. Vinod Naroyan, ETV6 Sport
