Chief Secretary Farley Augustine and Minority Leader Kelvon Morris share Christmas greetings to the people of Tobago, calling on them to remember the reason for the season putting God and family first. More from Elizabeth Williams.
00:00Chief Secretary Fahli Agustin, in his Christmas message to Tibagonians, called on them to remember the reason for the season.
00:08I pray that today is a day that we will find time to smile, to be happy, to share, to reach out to each and everyone.
00:19Mr Agustin said, especially in a time where life is short, we owe it to each other to check on each other.
00:27This is a good time to call your loved ones that you haven't called in a while, just to say I'm checking on each other today.
00:34So Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for 2025.
00:39Kelvin Morris, in his Christmas message, tells the Tibagonians that as they come together to celebrate the birth of their saviour, Jesus Christ,
00:49they must pause and reflect on what makes them truly Tibagonian.
00:54He identifies these attributes as resilience, resourcefulness and respect for each other.
01:01He adds that this time of year reminds people of the strength of their families, especially their extended families,
01:09and the love that binds all together as neighbours.
01:13The minority leader says these bonds have always been the foundation of the beautiful island of Tobago, especially during Christmas.
01:22As Jesus was born into a world that needed a saviour, he says they too are called in these times to do their part to rekindle the Tobago that they know and love.
01:34He urged Tibagonians to recover the values that make them strong and reclaim the traditions that remind them of who we are.
01:44Starting with the simple things, opening their homes, sharing a meal and showing love to their neighbours.
