Transcript
00:00A central tenant advanced by the Contractors Association during the meeting was the need for the THA to ensure fair
00:07and equitable treatment for Tobago-based contractors in procurement, project participation and development opportunities.
00:16The Association emphasized that Tobago contractors are not only competent and capable of delivering major infrastructural housing and commercial projects,
00:26but are also ready and willing to play a leading role in shaping the trajectory for the island's development.
00:35GCAT further underscored the THA's responsibility to promote the development of Tobago and the welfare of its people first.
00:43In this regard, GCAT noted that the spirit and intent of the sitting political directorate should always be to deliberately
00:53develop and position Tobagonians to participate in and lead the development of the island.
00:59The Association reiterated its commitment to working collaboratively with the THA to foster a renewed and strengthened relationship between the
01:10Assembly and Tobago's contractor community.
01:13GCAT expressed its hope for an immediate and robust turnaround in engagement with a more inclusive approach adopted by the
01:25THA as it advances its mandate for sustainable and economic development on the island.
01:31If Tobago is truly we, then every Tobagonian must feel included and be part of every major initiative and development
01:41milestone on the island, GCAT stated.
01:44If Tobago is we, then the THA is mandated to demonstrate that commitment in practice.
