He told us all about it alongside his coach Dwayne Hinds.
Transcript
00:00Reflecting on the fight for the BTC title, Josh Wolkin said he walked into the bout knowing
00:05what Adam Asenza was going to throw his way.
00:07As Dwayne said, Dwayne's put in countless hours in studying every move, every detail.
00:15If he moves to the left, what he does.
00:17If he moves to the right, how he defends, how he throws.
00:20And he actually did a great job of simulating this guy and all his signature moves.
00:29Wolkin struck the first significant blow of the fight, but he said he knew the fight was not over.
01:00So, I kept focused, I kept at the task and just went all day and did it to the best of my ability.
01:20That body kick was the most significant shot he landed in that fight.
01:27That was the only thing that really hit, other than the inside kicks, which I'm quite conditioned for.
01:34His coach Dwayne Hines says he was somewhat nervous about who won.
01:37The last round could have gone either way.
01:39But even into going into the last round, I still told him to push forward, to still try to get it.
01:44Because, you know what I mean, the nature of the game, right?
01:47You're on the road in his hometown, he's the champ, you know what I mean?
01:51Any close decision, he will lose.
01:54Now that he won, Wolkins is having flashbacks about his youth.
01:57I can remember just this little fun story.
02:00I can remember telling, I'm in primary school and I was like, oh, telling this girl, you don't want to talk to me?
02:07Don't worry, when I turn a big fighter one day, then you will know me.
02:11When I turn a millionaire and stuff, so that was just a little fun story.
02:15So things like that, I look back to when I'm having my fight and it's just a sense of gratitude, you know?
02:22He's coming closer to his goal of fighting in the UFC.
02:25It opens a lot of doors, right?
02:27Like already LFA has already said before the fight, if he wins this, we can talk about getting him a contract.
02:3560% of UFC fighters go through LFA, all their champs go on to the UFC.
02:40The owner of LFA, Dana White and all of their investors in LFA, so there's a big connection there.
02:48We're in talks with them and they fight out of Brazil and the U.S.
02:52We're in talks with them, but we're keeping our doors open.
02:55Again, December 13th, we just want to fight max out the next two years.
02:59Wilkins also made an urgent call for help with his U.S. visa.
03:03I'm not asking anyone for the government for money or anything like that.
03:07I am just asking the government to help me get my U.S. visa.
03:13Once they help me get my U.S. visa, I don't know who have all the links or whatever they have.
03:19I'm not asking the government for funding or anything.
03:22I just want them to get me my U.S. visa.
03:25If they could help that process, the sky's the limit.
