00:00Joash the honey badger Walkins chasing his dream of one day becoming a UFC
00:05champion. This weekend found him in Canada fighting their number one
00:09lightweight Adam Asenza. A man who has accolades that few can boast in the
00:13fight world having taken down a former UFC top gun. Walkins went up two weight
00:19classes for the BTC title. He was in foreign turf but with his coach Dwayne
00:23Hines on his shoulder there was comfort and encouragement that he could pull off
00:28the win. So why would a 35 year old Asenza fight 34 year old Walkins? Well
00:34he too is searching for the big fights to battle in the UFC. They would fight
00:39for three five-minute rounds. It was the right hand of justice that shaped the
01:03remainder of the fight. Asenza rattled but not without fight connected with a
01:08looping right hand. He had the reach advantage and at times it worked. Into
01:13round two. An already bruised opponent continues to take more damage. The
01:19hometown hero struggling to take the steam off from an angry honey badger but
01:24he never stopped trying. There would be risk in coming forward and Walkins
01:36opened a wound when his opponent stepped within range. It would be a
01:40troublesome cut under his left eye and at the end of the round sized up what
01:44was promising to be an exciting round three. Focused and ready Josh was
01:55determined to give all or nothing. He took a sweetly positioned body kick that
02:10echoed around in the world but there was no expression of weakness from the TNT
02:14native. However Walkins could not help but squint when Asenza struck the wrong
02:19tune. An unintentional strike gives breathing room for either man to think
02:24about their approach in the two minutes and three seconds remaining. Walkins had
02:28taken his fair share of leg kicks and he nearly got into trouble despite
02:32connecting on this occasion. As the match came to a close both fighters tried to
02:37put their final punctuation on what was a brawl in Canada. There was respect upon
02:42completion of the bout by both fighters followed by some nervous moments when
02:47the decision was made announcing the winner. All three judges score the
02:51contest 29-28 for your winner by unanimous decision
03:00and new BTC lightweight champion of the world, Josh the honey budger Walkins.
03:20Overjoyed Walkins was full of words. Secondly I want to say thank you to one of the best
03:25camps in the world. One of the best coaches, Wayne Hines. He's my brother. He has been with me since day one. Jeremy Tai Chu, my strength and conditioning coach. Wally, you spotted me this week. But guess what? There's a new kid on the block and that kid is Josh the honey budger Walkins. With the right training camp, as I said before, I can beat anyone in the world.
03:55A unanimous statement win that now puts Walkins' overall record to 16 wins and one loss.
