00:00Having experienced finishing last in the past and also runners-up, the St. Lucia
00:04Kings were finally able to silence their critics. They won the 2024 Republic Bank
00:09CPL at the expense of last year's winners Guyana Amazon Warriors. For
00:13captain Fab Duplessis it was a moment to cherish.
00:15Yeah it's special I mean obviously I think this whole competition we've been
00:19really good consistent throughout the league stages the two best team in the
00:22final and what a cracker of a game lots of ebbs and flows at one stage there I
00:28thought it's time to go pack my bags but credit to the guys and right through
00:33the tournament we kept saying that we believe a lot in the in the depth of the
00:37squad and obviously myself and John had some good partnerships at the top but we
00:42kept saying there'll be an opportunity for the other guys to put a put a
00:46match-winning performance in so what a day to do it in the final and Ross and
00:51Jason Aaron Jones what a partnership. Another player who could not be
00:55left out was batsman Aaron Jones after all his unbeaten 48 of 31 balls made it
01:00happen. We always know that playing in the finals is gonna be a challenge for
01:03sure especially playing against Guyana a very good team everybody in the camp was
01:08confident after we bowled so well and I just tried my best tonight and we came
01:11on top. It wasn't to be for the Guyana Amazon Warriors who were runners-up for
01:16the sixth time having said that captain Imran Tahir lauded his side for playing
01:20well this season. Yeah look to be honest with you I think we didn't start well
01:24with the bat and we keep losing wickets and stuff I think we knew the deal was
01:30gonna come and I think the score was a little bit less than what we thought and
01:34I think that was the only fault I can see in our team but I think we've been
01:37playing fantastic cricket throughout the competition just tough luck really today
01:42things didn't go our way there was a couple of leg befores you know keep
01:46getting missed the stumps so yeah look really a positive feeling about it but I
01:51also want to congratulate St. Lucia they played good cricket. Can the Amazon
01:55Warriors win their second title in front of their home crowd in 2025? Only time
02:00will tell. Vinod Nawani, TV6 Sport
