00:06participants.
00:07We saw wider cross-sections of persons who were able to come to Tobago, persons from
00:12the diaspora, persons from other international countries, and certainly a large showing by
00:18Trinidadians and Sibigonians as well.
00:21The tourism secretary, Tashia Boris, said she remained pleased with the execution of
00:26all events thus far.
00:29So we are very pleased with what we saw as the official start of the Carnival Weekend
00:33activities.
00:34As far as the reports I have, there have been no unsavoury incidents that were reported
00:42as part of the parade yesterday.
00:44I saw a coming together of everything that is good about Tobago and Trinidad culture
00:50and we showcased the best of ourselves to the world yesterday.
00:53Sunday saw the parade of the bands, Traditional and Pretty Mas.
00:58We are looking forward to a vibrant display of the best of Tobago's heritage, history
01:02and culture.
01:03The mass bands are excited, the masqueraders are excited.
01:07From all accounts, this year is going to surpass next year, last year in terms of participation.
01:14And I'm looking forward to us putting on an excellent spectacle for those who will be
01:19spectating.
