00:27but the reaffirmation of the importance of service, dedication, and the preservation
00:33of the island's cultural identity.
00:36Today marks an occasion where we pay tribute to the trailblazers, the visionaries, the

01:18Wednesday gone was six years since his passing.
01:22October is a funny month for me because he was born on the 4th of October and he died
01:27on the 23rd, which is also Calypso History Month.
01:31It's interesting that they decided this year to do that because this year is 50 years since
01:35Baseman.
01:36I remember vividly in 1981 when Alvin Coney asked me to coach the National Under-13.
01:44We were going to Puerto Rico.
01:46When I picked Dwight York, he was 10 years old.
01:50The manager came to me and said, where are you going with that little boy?
01:53I just told him, I said, who's picking the team?
01:55But they shut him out after that.
01:57I would like to thank the good Lord for the inspiration that he had given me to write
02:04over a thousand calypsos.
02:11The last calypso I wrote is about three weeks ago, about Tobago and the carnival.
02:20And I sent it to Tobago and a young girl performed it last night.
