Hello there, welcome to our latest weather update from the Met. For most of us it's been
00:04
a mild weekend and that mild theme will continue as we go into the new working week.
00:09
So as we end this weekend, for many parts of England and Wales it's largely dry with
00:14
some clear spells. That will allow some mist and fog to form, but then this next area of
00:19
cloud and rain just approaches from the west. By the end of the night that would have cleared
00:23
Northern Ireland, so something a bit drier and clearer for here. But for all of us it's
00:28
going to be a mild night, temperatures not falling much lower than 5 to 7 degrees.
00:33
So we will start the day with some sunshine across parts of East Anglia, the Midlands,
00:37
Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, but the cloud further west will spread its way that little
00:41
bit further eastwards as the day goes on. Any rain really weakening, so by the time
00:45
it gets to East Anglia I think very little rain left on it. That then opens up a window
00:50
or something a bit drier and brighter for many parts, some good amounts of sunshine
00:54
around lunchtime. But then as we go into the afternoon that really focuses down towards
00:59
eastern parts of the country where further west we start to see thickening cloud and
01:03
outbreaks of rain arriving. So come the middle of the afternoon turning very wet for parts
01:07
of Northern Ireland. But for all of us it is going to be a mild day, temperatures widely
01:13
into double figures potentially up to 16 or 17 degrees down towards the southeastern corner.
01:20
So into the evening this band of rain continues its way north-east with some heavy rain for
01:24
a time across parts of Scotland and Northern England. The rain band does take its time
01:29
to get towards East Anglia and the south-east, so actually here probably remaining dry until
01:34
after dawn. But elsewhere a rather cloudy and damp end to the night. But a mild one
01:40
once again, we will see lows not much lower than around 10 to 11 degrees across the south.
01:46
For all of us it's really going to be a bit of a grey start on Tuesday. Still see some
01:51
rain spread its way eastwards across the country. But it does improve across parts of Northern
01:55
Ireland and Scotland. A mixture of bright spells and scattered showers here come the
01:59
afternoon. That will also transfer into Northern England come around 3 to 4 o'clock. Temperatures
02:06
still above average for the time of year but a little bit lower than on Monday. But we
02:10
could still see highs reaching around 15 or 16 degrees across the south-east and East
02:15
Anglia. Then looking ahead for the rest of the week, for all of us it is going to remain
02:21
changeable. We will see some drier and brighter moments but also some wetter periods too,
02:26
especially come Tuesday night and into Wednesday. But all the time it's generally going to remain
02:31
mild but there are hints that it could turn a little bit colder as we head towards the
02:35
weekend. But you can find out more about that on our social media channels. But for now,
02:40
take care and I'll see you again soon.
