07 September - National weather forecast presented by Craig Snell.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office weather forecast.
00:03Looking ahead to the new week and it's going to be an unsettled one for all of us.
00:08Low pressure is going to be firmly in charge as we go through the new week,
00:11bringing further spells of rain and showers to all of us.
00:15Most wettest weather will be out towards the west with the best of any brightness,
00:19always generally towards the eastern half of the country.
00:23And that's really the story this afternoon.
00:25We've got this band of rain across the west.
00:27Some of this rain will be potentially quite heavy, thundery, given some poor travelling conditions in places.
00:31But all the time towards the east, especially for East Anglia and the southeast,
00:35we hang on to the dry and fine weather, although sunshine turning increasingly hazy.
00:40But in the brightness here, we could see highs reaching around 26 or 27 degrees.
00:45Elsewhere, generally high teens, low 20s and quite a humid feel out there, I think, for this afternoon.
00:51Quite windy too across the north, could see some gales around the coast.
00:54And that will continue as we go into the evening hours as this band of rain continues to track its way northwards.
01:00Given quite a wet night across parts of Shetland and Orkney, winds increasing here too.
01:05So quite a lively night to come here.
01:07Elsewhere, showers becoming generally confined across more northern and western parts of the UK,
01:12with the clearest skies out towards the east.
01:14And for all of us, slightly cooler night than the night just gone.
01:17But most towns and cities staying firmly in double figures.
01:20So looking ahead to Monday, and it's going to be a fairly cheery start across many parts.
01:25Lots of sunshine around, but showers already beginning to develop out towards the west.
01:29And as the day goes on, the cloud will bubble up everywhere across the UK.
01:33And most of us seeing a few showers here and there.
01:36Most frequent out towards the west.
01:38Again, some of these showers could be potentially quite heavy.
01:40Could hear the odd rumble of thunder too.
01:44And temperatures for most of us down compared to today.
01:47But it's still reaching around 21 or 22 degrees down towards the southeastern corner.
01:51So I think in the sunshine, it won't feel too bad out there.
01:55And winds for most of us a little bit down on today as well.
01:58But still quite breezy up towards the far northwestern corner of Scotland.
