00:00For many parts of the UK today is going to be the most unsettled day of the at least the working week and that's because there's a mature low to the northwest of us and with that then an associated frontal system here we actually have an occluded front that's already pushed its way in and then a much deeper feature that's coming in from the southwest.
00:19If we just run the last few hours through and you can see it's made its way into southwestern parts bringing cloud yes but also some fairly hefty outbreaks of rain even ahead of this heavier band of rain towards the west there are a few showers to watch out for across eastern parts but yes it's across western parts where we're going to get the heaviest rain through today particularly over some parts of western southwestern Scotland.
00:41That's where the totals could really build up and it's worth bearing in mind that yes it could be heavy at times and there could be some thunder mixed in with it as well so it could be quite impactful for some of us.
00:52Further east a few showers still as we go through the afternoon the greater chance of staying dry though with perhaps a few bright or sunny spells breaking out here and there and that's where we're most likely to see temperatures just about getting into the low 20s.
01:05And further west across parts of northern Ireland with things turning a bit showery later on there could also be some sunshine breaking through at times.
01:13More heavy thundery rain to come as we go through this evening particularly across parts of northern England and much of Scotland so those rainfall totals continuing to build up but that whole front does clear away towards the northeast just lingering across Orkney and later Shetland as we go through the early hours of tomorrow into the morning.
01:29Then we do have something drier following and behind eastern parts having a good deal of dry clear weather further west more showers piling their way in and those showers are going to be pretty frequent and heavy across western parts of Scotland.
01:42Because of the clear skies following in from this front we are going to see temperatures dropping a little bit low even some towns and cities falling into single figures.
01:51It's a bit of a fresh start to the day for many of us tomorrow morning.
01:55And then tomorrow it's a showery day that rain takes a little while to clear away from Orkney and Shetland but otherwise the big talking point is that there will be plenty of showers coming in from the west because we still have that low towards the northwest of us.
02:09Our flow is well and truly coming in from the west northwest so lots of showers arriving initially eastern parts will be avoiding them but they are going to push through.
02:18Some will feed up through the Bristol channel some will push across the Pennines and just generally it does look like it is going to be a showery picture for many of us.
02:26Again those showers could be heavy they could be thundery with some hail mixed in and watch out there could be some more persistent rain towards the far northwest of the UK far northwest of Scotland.
02:36And this is where we're going to have the strongest winds we're talking gales maybe even touching severe gales in some exposed coastal spots.
02:43In between the showers there will be some sunny spells yes but temperatures are a little bit lower than today if anything so many places in the mid to high teens just about scraping into the low 20s perhaps but we do need to factor in that there will be these blustery winds especially when you get any of those heavy showers pushing through.
03:00That mature low sticks around as we go into Friday so another showery day for many of us again most frequent towards the west but most places likely to see some showers.
03:08And then our attention turns to an area of low pressure that's coming in from the west.
03:13Now through Saturday there will be some showery rain at times maybe even something more persistent arriving later on from the west but it's on Sunday when we're more likely to see the wetter windier weather.
03:26Exactly what this low pressure does still some question marks out there most likely it's going to deepen but stay towards the northwest of the UK and so it brings some wet and windy weather particularly towards northwestern parts.
03:37There is the potential though it could run across the UK and if it does so well it depends on how deep a feature it is when it does so as to exactly how unsettled it's going to be.
03:48On our will have more information about what we can expect through this weekend in our 10 day trend which will be available on YouTube and Spotify later on.
03:55Bye bye.
