There’s plenty going on this weekend with warnings for rain and strong winds and also some sunshine. There will also be a drop in temperatures after a mild Saturday is followed by a colder Sunday with some snow in the showers over Scotland.

00:00Hello. Lots of weather to get through this weekend.
00:03Yes, there'll be some sunshine, but there will also be some heavy rain in places
00:07and gusty winds, especially so on Saturday when we have weather warnings in force.
00:13Rain chiefly across the north during the day, slipping south overnight on Saturday night.
00:17And that brings a change for Sunday, a brighter day for many, still breezy and with something of a colder feel.
00:23Let's take a look at the pressure patterns. A lot of ice bars on the chart on Saturday.
00:27It will be blustery and this weather front just kind of wriggles its way across western Scotland,
00:32in particular, bringing that wet weather.
00:34It then sinks southwards, bringing some rain on Saturday night before clearing away.
00:38But it does introduce that colder feel on Sunday.
00:43Let's get back to the start of the weekend, though, because that weather front, as I said, could cause some problems.
00:47The rain just continuing to fall over western Scotland.
00:50The brighter colours there could be 60, maybe 80, possibly on hills, 100 millimetres of rain.
00:56So that could cause some disruption.
00:58The wind's also going to be very noticeable.
01:00But for the bulk of England and Wales, it will be a dry day.
01:03Southwesterly winds bringing relatively mild air.
01:06So temperatures double digits for most, maybe into the teens in one or two spots.
01:12But as I said, those winds and the rain could cause a few issues and there are warnings in force.
01:17The wind, first of all, over northeast England, southeast Scotland and parts of north Wales could gust 50,
01:2460 over hills, maybe 70 miles an hour.
01:26So that could cause some travel disruptions, certainly for high sided vehicles along the A1, for example.
01:32And then we have the rainfall, particularly in the west over hills in Scotland, 60, 80 on some hills,
01:38maybe 100 millimetres of rain falling during Saturday.
01:40Again, the potential for some disruption and the possibility of some flooding,
01:44mostly caused by this weather fronts that sink southwards on Saturday night.
01:48So we'll bring some rain, of course, England and Wales then.
01:50But it's pretty much out of the way by the time we get to first thing on Sunday morning.
01:55Maybe still some cloud across Kent early on, but that scoots away.
01:58Another weather front bringing some showery rain across Scotland and there will be showers continuing here through the day.
02:04And with the colder air, those showers will be falling as snow over relatively modest hills across western Scotland,
02:11down to low levels in Shetland for a time on Sunday.
02:15There'll be a few showers for Northern Ireland, northwest England.
02:17But again, the bulk of England and Wales will be dry for much of Sunday.
02:21Still breezy, but not as windy, but a colder feel on Sunday, temperatures in many places down to single figures.
02:28And quite quickly, those temperatures will drop on Sunday night as well.
02:31So the new working week may well start with a frost.
02:35Make sure you stay up to date with the very latest, particularly on those weather warnings this weekend by following the Met Office on social media.
