A Trinidadian jewelry store owner who was holding a pop-up shop in a St Lucia hotel on Wednesday afternoon was robbed by two gunmen who stormed the room where the pop- up shop was taking place and carted away one million dollars in gold.

The jewelry store owner said that his and his wife's passports and all personal items were stolen and a customer who was present during the daring robbery also lost his belongings.

00:14had on display for sale. Nehru, owner of PJ's jewelry collection based in El
00:19Dorado, told TV6 News that one customer was perusing items in the room when the
00:24masked gunmen came inside. One of the guys took our bag off his back and
00:29began to take up all the gold, the watches, everything from on the table
00:35where we had the jewelry being displayed and eventually came behind the table we
00:42leave me of my personal jewelry and also my wife of our watch, chain etc.
00:47Then he went further they took the suitcase we came with where we had the
00:52jewelry boxes and remainder of watches and stuff. Nehru said the police only
00:57came today to take a proper statement of what had happened on Wednesday and the
01:01entire ordeal had left them shaken.
01:20The jewelry store owner claimed that the manager of the hotel was not being helpful and so in
01:25trying to retrieve the passports of his wife and himself he decided to go viral
01:29and make a plea on social media that somehow upset the hotel. This was the
01:34fourth time hosting a pop-up shop at this same location.
01:55Nehru said he was told by employees at the hotel and police that they believe the
02:19suspects are linked to the six or seven gangs operating on that island. TV6
02:24News attempted to contact St. Lucia's Commissioner of Police Vinh God for
02:28comment on the matter but calls to his cell phone went unanswered. Mark Basant, TV6 News.
