An off-duty police officer foiled an attempted robbery this morning at the 7-11 Sports Bar in downtown Port of Spain after three men attempted to rob the bar owner of a quantity of cash.

00:10The robbery, police say, unfolded around 10.30 a.m. when an off-duty police officer spotted one of the suspects
00:17leaving with the money and attempting to draw what resembled a firearm.
00:21The bandit was shot in the leg and police officers from the Port of Spain task force were quickly on the scene.
00:27Two other suspects were also taken into police custody.
00:31The injured bandit was rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital for treatment.
00:35The money was recovered by the police just outside the bar.
00:39Police Commissioner Alistair Guevara commended the off-duty officer for his swift work
00:44and urged criminals to lay down their guns or face the consequences of their actions.
00:51A 27-year-old man has appeared before a master of the High Court today
00:55charged with the murder of Candice Honoree, whose mutilated body was found in a suitcase on July 17th in the Valencia District.
01:05Michael Moore, a.k.a. Tall Man and Fully Fully, a construction laborer of Sangri Grandi,
01:11was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Rihanna Hussain at the High Court.
01:16The sufficiency hearing date has been set for January 27th, 2026.
01:23Honoree 22 of Manzanilla was found dead in the Valencia District on July 17th, 2025,
01:30after being reported missing to the officers of the Manzanilla Police Station on July 11th.
01:35A male suspect was arrested in connection with the matter by officers of the Homicide Intelligence Unit
01:41at the Office of an Attorney at Law in the Sangri Grandi District on July 20th.
01:46The lawyer, who was also detained, has since been released.
01:51A man has been detained by police in connection with the murder of his 47-year-old female relative.
01:58According to reports, the man told officers that while at their Coover apartment on Tuesday night,
02:03the woman was shot in the chest during a home invasion.
02:05When officers arrived at the scene that night, the victim, Kamni Takurdin,
02:10was transferred to the Coover Health Facility in a critical condition.
02:15However, she died on Wednesday.
02:17Investigators say the initial report of a home invasion did not match the initial observations made by the officers,
02:24leading them to take the close male relative into custody.
02:27The firearm and ammunition were recovered at the scene.
02:30The TDPS says the case has shifted from a wounding with intent to that of a homicide since the woman's passing.
02:39Investigations are continuing.
02:43A 26-year-old man was robbed and shot up near the Cora River on Wednesday morning.
02:49According to police reports, around 8.15 a.m., the victim was liming at Pool 1 Cora River
02:55when a group of friends, when he was approached by two unknown men.
02:59One of the men, who was armed with a firearm, pointed the weapon at the victim and announced a robbery.
03:04The suspects relieved the victim of a quantity of personal items,
03:08including a gold chain, gold bearer, gold ring, $5,000 in cash,
03:12and several bank cards before escaping in a dark-colored AD wagon.
03:17The victim gave chase in his black BMW.
03:20While driving south along Cora Royal Road,
03:22one of the suspects exited the AD wagon, pulled out a firearm,
03:26and discharged a shot in the victim's direction.
03:29No injuries were reported.
03:30The suspect then re-entered the wagon and drove off.
03:34The police were notified.
03:35The scene was visited by officers of the Tunapuna Police District.
