What's the Republic Bank CPL without the party vibes?

Well, that's exactly what the fans got during Tuesday's Republic Day holiday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

The Trinbago Knight Riders may have lost to the St. Lucia Kings, but the party must go on.

00:00Fans came out bright and early on the Republic Day holiday to witness the CPL
00:04match between home side Trinbago Knight Riders and St Lucia Kings at the Brian
00:07Lara Cricket Academy in Taruba. The vendors were quite busy selling
00:12merchandise to the spectators. Yes it's a busy day, it's cricket and the crowd is
00:18here. And with regards to sales, how have they been going? I can't complain, it's
00:24not as quick as you would like it but it's happening one, two, it's happening. How
00:29excited are you for today's game? Well well I am very very excited, I love CPL
00:33to my heart, I don't miss any games, I come all games in Trinidad and today's
00:38Republic Day I was invited to different events and I just choose to come here.
00:42And that's what's happening for me today. Well definitely I
00:46think the spirit of TKR right now has become infectious, the guys are coming
00:50in to their own, the team is balancing off nice, bowling good in the
00:54bowling department, the batting department remains consistent, I think
00:58Puran is at the top of his game, well we know what to expect from the
01:01captain, CEO of Cairn Pollard. And there was a true patriot proudly displaying
01:05the red white and black. Are you feeling the vibes for today's game, Armin Taruba?
01:09Of course I am, I'm here with my flag, I'm here to support the team, we're gonna go
01:13a long way this year. Who are your favourite players on the TKR side? My favourite
01:17players as I'm from Santa Cruz, I have to say the champion himself, DJ Bravo, one of
01:21my favourites, a fella I used to look up to when I played this sport as a young
01:24child, he's the man, the champion as we call him. Cheers.
01:32Ma'am, how excited are you for the encounter between TKR and St Lucia Kings?
01:37I definitely am excited, it's always a good game to see when the international
01:41players are here and everything, so the atmosphere already is buzzing, so I'm
01:44really excited to see what's gonna happen today. And being on Republic Day,
01:47it must be more special. Of course, because you know we want to support the
01:50country, we want to see what the nation is doing, so you know it's a good day to
01:54come out to support the nation. Cheers. Switching to all that was happening
01:57inside the stadium, no wonder the CPL is labelled as the biggest party in sport,
02:01it was Trinidad Carnival in the month of September. This outlet had lots of
02:06merchandise for those supporting the Trinbago Knight Riders, and those in
02:09charge certainly had their work cut out for them. Things are generally busy,
02:13Trinidad and Tobago, you know we bleed red, white and black, so Trinbagonians
02:17come out and they always support the Trinbago Knight Riders. Definitely, and we
02:21have the most unforgiving fans, so they know, they know they've got to win today.
02:24Those selling food and drink were also quite busy, after all, besides being
02:29hungry for the action on the field of play, they also wanted to put fuel into
02:33their bodies. And those who are not teetotallers would have had the option
02:37of indulging in something different. How are you enjoying doing what you're doing?
02:41I mean, this is my love, you know, and cooking is my thing at the same time, so I just enjoy this.
02:47Seeing that you have a lot of customers, how do you keep on going? How do you keep
02:51yourself energized? Oh, it's the crowd. The crowd is just keeping, every time they make a six or
02:56some, or make a wicket, you're all alone to be energized.
03:08Cameraman Brandon Benwo caught up with this lady, and a one-on-one convo with
03:12her had to happen, no doubt about it.
03:15Ma'am, I see you've painted your face with the national colours, and you have the Knight Riders as well.
03:20Yes.
03:21Must be a great feeling on Republic Day.
03:33Cheers.
03:34I always love the vibes. Every time there's a party, it's the vibes.
03:38You come to Tooruba quite often?
03:41This is my second time here.
03:44What about the Queen's Park Oval?
03:46I've been there before in previous years, yes.
03:49Enjoy the game.
03:51Can you explain this drawing?
03:53This is my daughter, scholarship, and right now she's in China, Beijing, and she wanted to be here,
04:00but I sent her this so that she could be here too with us.
04:03And then there was this gentleman who celebrated his birthday at the game.
04:08Well, so far I've enjoyed it. I'm here with family and friends, having a good time.
04:12Feeling warm.
04:13Feeling hot.
04:14Would you say that watching cricket on your birthday is one of the better things?
04:18One of the better things. I always enjoy cricket, and it's one of the things I get to do with my family and friends.
04:22So I enjoy it.
04:23Happy birthday to you!
04:33The match did not end in TKR's favour, as the Kings trounced them by 80 runs.
04:38But that should not stop the party from continuing,
04:41as the Knight Riders hope to bounce back in their last home game against Barbados Royals at the same venue on Friday,
04:46before heading to Guyana for the last leg.
04:49Vinod, I want you to keep six foot.
