Sacred Voices Rise as One at Divali Nagar on Independence Day to pray and reflect

00:2020 religious buddies from the Inter-Religious Organization of Trinidad and Tobago
00:25sang, prayed and rejoiced together at the Diwali Nagar.
00:30As for the first time in recent years, there was no Independence Day parade or fireworks
00:34displayed to celebrate Trinidad and Tobago's 63rd year of independence.
00:40In light of the ongoing state of emergency, this year's observance was instead a National
00:45Day of Prayer and Reflection.
00:47Today, as we gather together as citizens of this nation, may we be reminded of the verse
00:57from the Shri Ram Charitamanas.
01:00Wherever there is unity, there is blessedness.
01:14Wherever there is disunity, there will only be wretchedness.
01:18Allahummeen.
01:20Rabbanaatika bel minna, urmursil al-Fatiha, bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
01:28Whose love we, Trinidad and Tobago, cannot measure.
01:34Whose blessings we cannot number.
01:38We thank you for all your goodness to us.
01:44As it referenced national security concerns in cancelling the traditional celebrations,
01:50the government expressed the hope that Independence Day of Prayer and Reflection
01:54will unite citizens from all faiths and backgrounds in seeking strength, guidance,
02:00and a renewed sense of national purpose.
