00:1723-year-old Nigel Roper, who went missing from his paramour,
00:21held home in Maraval on Sunday night after being abducted and found dead earlier today.
00:28Martha, who was only able to muster a few words before breaking down,
00:32described her son as a hard-working farmer.
00:35Roper was reported missing by his family on Monday at the Maraval Police Station
00:39and Rambarat of the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team said the family reached out to them the following day.
00:44In the hopes of feeding, we made an arrangement with the family to come early this morning
00:49to assist them with the search.
00:52The paramour is a bit far from here, so to have located the body this distance
00:57meant that we were searching from early this morning and at about 12.50pm
01:04we were alerted to a strong foul smell at the corner of Boiler Trace and Cameron Road
01:13and we were able to locate the body.
01:16Roper's body was found dumped in some bushes off Cameron Road, Pitty Valley.
01:20Investigators say that due to the decomposed state of Roper's body,
01:23they were unable to say how he was killed.
01:26However, relatives reported to police that following Roper's abduction, they heard a gunshot.
01:32Sources told TV6 News that Roper was allegedly taken by persons connected to security forces.
01:38Roper was the nephew of the infamous Ralph Roper,
01:41who had been on the run from police for 15 years in the Cameron forest
01:45before he was shot and killed by police in 2021.
