00:00Early morning fire at a popular South bakery resulted in over $30,000 worth in damage at the Coffee Street San Fernando business place.
00:10Owner of Pumpernickel Bakery and Cafe, Patricia Campbell, says police called and informed her about the fire.
00:17What she met on her arrival to her business, she says, left her both saddened and shocked.
00:24No threats. No threats as far as I know. I was on vacation and just came back Sunday.
00:30The police called me at 3 o'clock this morning to ask if anybody had called me about a fire.
00:41It would take a lot to clean up, repurpose and then reopen the location.
00:45However, Campbell says her business is her life's work and passion and she will recover from this ordeal.
00:52She told reporters on Thursday she had no idea what caused the blaze.
00:57There's no electrical outlet here to say there was a short.
01:02I don't want to speculate. I'm waiting for fire services to come.
01:07But for someone to deliberately do this, you know, you can tell me things are hard outside.
01:14People think you own a business and you have plenty of money.
01:17But I have 10 staff to pay. My electricity bill runs over $10,000 a month.
01:22I have two vehicles to maintain. You know, it's not easy.
