00:06Secondary School on Monday.
00:08According to the Minister of Education, Dr. Michael Dowlat, smoke was detected at approximately 1.50 p.m. in a
00:15room located on the top floor of the Form 5 building block.
00:18He says the school's emergency response protocols were immediately activated and within minutes, all 42 teachers and 103 students were
00:29evacuated with no injuries or casualties reported.
00:33The minister says the Form 5 students have successfully completed their C-Sec mock exams prior to the incident.
00:40And while the school was expected to close on Friday, March 27th to mark the end of the school term,
00:46it has been closed with immediate effect as a precautionary measure.
00:50Minister Dowlat says all relevant divisions, including the Education Faculty's Planning and Procurement Division and the Health, Safety and Security
00:58Unit,
00:59are actively collaborating with the TTFS and MTS to conduct comprehensive assessments and undertake all necessary remedial works with the
01:09aim of reopening safely on April 13th for Term 3.
01:14He adds that investigations into the cause of the incident are ongoing and the Ministry of Education will continue to
01:20provide updates as further information becomes available.
