Persons Associated with Visual Impairment presented laptops to two secondary school students in Tobago, as part of their laptop initiative.

The distribution took place on Tuesday at the Office of the Prime Minister- Central Administrative Services, Conference Room, in Scarborough. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.

00:00In times gone by, many persons after leaving school ended up in a workshop for the blind
00:06where they make baskets, cane chairs, and that kind of stuff.
00:10And it is not a bad thing.
00:13But now that we have the opportunity for advancing our education skills, we have the opportunity
00:18to show that we too can take our rightful place in the society.
00:23Mr. Bassad said there is still a mountain to climb in having the acceptance of persons
00:28with disabilities in the workplace.
00:31We too can hold on a job like anybody else.
00:36But it takes a lot of hard work because as administrators, we have to keep convincing
00:42people that don't look at the disability, look at the ability.
00:47PAVI has been given the opportunity to distribute laptops in Trinidad and Tobago to students
00:53and adults via a 2023 IDB project.
00:57One of the two recipients is a student of Mason Hall Secondary School.
