While there were not many fans for the WCPL opener in Tarouba, those who attended had a whale of a time.

Reporter Vinod Narwani and cameraman Immanuel Nunez were there to cover some of the excitement.

00:00These folks were providing entertainment during the 2024 Massive Men's Caribbean Premier
00:07League Opener which took place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tiruba on Wednesday
00:11night. It was by no means a full house for the clash involving defending champions Barbados
00:16Royals and last year's runners-up Guyana Amazon Warriors. Far from it, with most of the stands
00:21being empty. There were those who felt more support should have been given to the female
00:25cricketers with this being the third edition of the tournament.
00:55Which team do you like in this tournament in the WCPL? I like all the teams but I'm
01:10here to support TKR and Barbados because I went to school in Barbados but I'm from Trinidad
01:15so I'm supporting them all actually. Is this your first time at a women's Caribbean Premier
01:20League match? Yes it is but I'm enjoying it a lot. I wish more people would come out and
01:24support them because I believe that the women should also be supported just as much as the
01:28men. For those who wanted to grab a bite while enjoying the cricket, that area was fully
01:33covered. In fact, there were quite a few options for the fans. As they say, the more the merrier.
01:40Back to picking another person's brain and the question is, how will the WCPL benefit
01:44the Caribbean? I know we have a lot of talent in the WCPL with the women's cricket. I've
01:51seen them play a good amount of times already. I know we have one or two of our players on
01:58the WCPL team so it's pretty good. Who's your team for this tournament in the WCPL? One
02:09team I'm backing, Trinidad team. All matches take place at the Brian Lauer Cricket Academy
02:17with a final on August 29th. Three doubleheaders are also on with the West Indies men playing
02:23South Africa before the WCPL on the 23rd, 25th and 27th. Can we expect a better turnout for the
02:30remaining matches? Only time will tell when Udan achieves export.
