The concept of Freelancing is different from a conventional job because it gives you the freedom
to be your own boss rather than being employed by someone. Freelancing is for all those people
who are not happy with their 9-5 jobs, and don’t want to follow the mechanism of conventional
jobs. Freelancing is better than any other job because it gives you freedom of time, and there is
no need to follow a formal working environment. But hard work, self-assessment, and dedication
are the most important factors to be a successful freelancer.

00:13Ladies and gentlemen,
00:15Whilst working as a freelancer,
00:17the first thing you need to know is
00:21what is your worth.
00:23Because, only when you know your worth
00:25can you price charge your worth.
00:28So it is very important for you to know how to price yourself as a freelancer.
00:33If you project yourself well, you know your worth, you know your value, you have full
00:39control over your work, which is a skill by the way.
00:43And your soft skills, communication skills, business development skills are very good.
00:48Believe me, you can price yourself at will.
00:53I know such freelancers who have just started working and they are charging 30 odd dollars per hour.
01:02Yes, the skill set is a little advanced to work in WooCommerce and WordPress development,
01:07but again at the end of the day, it gets down to how confident they are in promoting themselves
01:13as a service provider.
01:15So for us to realize how to price ourselves, let's just look at these four important things.
01:21First of all, trust yourself.
01:25If you don't trust yourself, if you don't know who you are,
01:31your own concept of Iqbal, that you don't recognize yourself,
01:36how can you deliver good work to an employer as a freelancer?
01:42But at the same time, when a project is posted and you know that I am the right guy for that job
01:47and I'm going to do the clean sweep here with regards to the competition,
01:52I'm going to rock the stage.
01:54When you have this trust in yourself, this belief in yourself,
01:59then you can successfully undertake the project and will complete it within a lot of time
02:05and you will get paid.
02:07So first and foremost important thing is you should be able to recognize who you are
02:14and you should trust yourself.
02:16The second thing ladies and gentlemen is no marketplace, price roughly.
02:23Remember that cheating exercise we did where you filled in the employer's shoes
02:29and you put in a fake project.
02:31Don't put in too many projects by the way, just put in one.
02:36And after putting in that project, when you got the bids,
02:39then you saw how people bid, you saw what price people are giving
02:45related to a particular project brief.
02:48You saw how people communicate.
02:51Surprisingly, a lot of people will use video, which we will talk about later.
02:56But you get to know roughly what is the price related to your skillset.
03:01So similarly, when you have to step in as a competition in the freelancing field,
03:09then ladies and gentlemen, it is very important to know how you will price yourself
03:14by knowing the price of your skill roughly.
03:17This is very important.
03:19This means that you don't overprice yourself.
03:23You don't underprice.
03:24By the way, I don't believe in underprice at all.
03:27If you are trying to underprice and if you work in the freelance marketplace with this desire
03:36that you will win a project by bidding one or two rupees,
03:41believe me, you are living in a fool's paradise.
03:44You will never be able to crack a deal.
03:46Freelancing, believe me, it is not about price.
03:50Freelancing is about a lot of other soft skills, business development skills,
03:57and of course, your computer skill, which matters a lot.
04:01It has nothing to do with price.
04:03I know such employers, and I have worked with them,
04:06who used to pay $500 for a PhD in design.
04:10Because I gave them a value proposition and I proved my worth
04:15through my communication, work, portfolio, and sample work.
04:20And the employer found out that this guy knows what he is talking about.
04:24So, you better realize the importance of what's happening in the marketplace with regards to the prices.
04:32Now, one thing, which is related to both of these things, is very important.
04:42And that is, how to charge based on employer's urgency and your efficiency.
05:12If you show efficiency to finish the work, then the price of the project increases.
05:18Because you are giving your overtime, you are working more than necessary.
05:22So, the price determination, which is the normal price of a project,
05:28for example, the price of a logo design is $50.
05:31It takes 5 days to design a logo.
05:33The employer says that within 2 days, within 24 hours or 2 business days,
05:39which is 18 hours, you know, 9 hours roughly, Monday to Friday.
05:42And the project is awarded on Monday morning and he says that he wants the project by Tuesday evening.
05:47You will not charge them $50. Instead, you will charge them $75.
05:52Or instead, maybe you will charge them $100.
05:55Because here, the employer is showing urgency and at the same time, your efficiency level doubles.
06:02So, it is very important to factor this in as well.
06:05The fourth and most important thing, which I have mentioned earlier,
06:08don't sell yourself cheap.
06:11Don't ruin your brand or ruin the name of Pakistan.
06:15Because when you bid below the price or below the optimum level of price,
06:25then it is very likely that the employer will understand that you are very needy,
06:29you are desperate to buy the project.
06:32Or desperation, once it is sensed, you will not be able to crack a deal.
06:38Understand your value. Know your worth.
06:41This is why we keep saying this.
06:43This is why we keep emphasizing the importance that when you recognize yourself,
06:49automatically you will be able to excel as a freelancer.
