News of Komal Maharaj's safe return to his family was met with great relief by the national community last night, exactly two weeks after he was reported missing. However,members of the public are also asking what exactly transpired. TV6 turned to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team for answers. Rynessa Cutting reports.

00:00At this time, Komal Maharaj is said to be assisting police with the investigation into
00:05his own disappearance, after he was found alive on Saturday night in the Cedras area.
00:11In a statement last night, relatives said he was dehydrated but in good spirits, adding
00:16that they will have more to say at a later date.
00:19But with more questions and answers surrounding his disappearance, TV6 News attempted to get
00:24clarity from the Hunter Search and Rescue team, led by Shamsuddin Ayub.
00:30Are you able to say whether a ransom was paid or something of that nature?
00:35According to our knowledge, no, we did not receive anything of ransom, we can be wrong.
00:41But according to our knowledge, no, there's no ransom because he returned free, right?
00:47Freely, he come home.
00:49Ayub says about six days following Mr Maharaj's disappearance, the Hunter Search and Rescue
00:54team made contact with him on his cell phone while he was in Venezuela, and certain discussions
00:59were had.
01:25And while many initially feared that Mr Maharaj may have been kidnapped, Ayub does not believe
01:30that that was the case.
01:55Meantime, the team is reporting in the range of 200 missing persons for the year thus far,
02:00with roughly 35 persons unaccounted for since 2023.
02:24And the list go on and on.
02:52So presently, the outstanding person from last year to this year is approximately, let
02:57me say about 35 to 33.
03:00And the person still outstanding is missing, you know, so we are out there looking for
03:05them.
03:06We will not give up until we find them.
