The High Court has ordered the State to pay three Venezuelan children the sum of $425-thousand dollars each, with interest, for their illegal detention by the State for a combined total is $1.27 million dollars.

00:00The High Court has ordered the state to pay three Venezuelan children the sum of
00:04$425,000 each with interest for their illegal detention by the state.
00:11That's for a total combined of 1.27 million dollars. The children were
00:17detained at the heliport in Chagaramas for two months.
00:20Master Chirlane Pei directed the state to pay each of the children ages 12, 7
00:26and 2 for the ordeal they suffered and the quote-unquote torturous attacks
00:31committed against very young children. The money is to be paid into the court
00:36and will then be placed in an interest-bearing account by the
00:39Registrar of the High Court. The children will not be allowed to access the money
00:44until they reach the age of 18, but in the interim their mother may apply to
00:48the court for access to funds from the account to meet their immediate needs.
