00:00And we talk about can you carry momentum from one season to the next and we generally agree
00:03Yeah, you can't really carry it over one season to the next and they kind of did. They did, they absolutely did.
00:08They went from 9 wins to 12 wins, started off the season beating the Super Bowl champs on their field and
00:16Carried that through to get to the NFC Championship game where obviously they had the lead at halftime. It was
00:21These are giant steps are taken. It's not incremental steps, and I think in large part it's because of
00:28How they changed the culture by the types of players that they're bringing in. And so he's talking too about we don't know. We don't
00:34Know until they hit the field. If you look at Brad Holmes
00:39draft record
00:40Okay, and and one thing that we everybody assumes
00:44Every fan base thinks in that moment in time that they got the first-round pick.
00:50I shouldn't say everybody. Most fans go can't wait to see the first-round pick. Can't wait to see a first-round pick.
00:55Brad Holmes first-round picks have been Penny Sewell and
00:58And the bust percentage is
01:01Like 0.0 with Penny Sewell. The next year he took Aidan Hutchinson and Jamison Williams. I mean Hutch is
01:08Exceptionally good. Yeah, Jamison Williams is a year for him. Yeah, I mean, it's a big year for him
01:13He's not trending to be a bust though
01:16He could be still but I don't think he is
01:18Jameer Gibbs and Jack Campbell two guys that aren't trending to be a bust
01:22They're they're hit percentage just seems pretty high right now and you mix in Terry on Arnold. Okay, and you go. All right
01:29They don't know on Terry on Arnold
01:31But given the track record, we should be damn encouraged their first-round picks the decade before
01:39Right and you forget how bad it can be and maybe Detroiters will never forget Nick Fairley
01:46Never lived up to the hype. Nope, Riley Reif never lived up to the hype. He started he was okay
01:51But it was okay out of tonight Ziggy Ansa Ziggy had a few really good productive years
01:57But it was like two or three productive years and then yeah, I would say Aidan Hutchins probably is
02:02I'll probably already exceeded Ziggy Ansa Eric Ibrahim. I mean, no, no Lakin Tomlinson still in the league
02:09But yeah, I don't know not really worth it
02:12Taylor Decker's a good player
02:14Jared Davis. Oh, no, not really worth it. Frank Ragnar. Good play. Absolutely worth it
02:19TJ Hawkinson good player Jeffrey Akuta bust like these are that's the ten draft picks before Sewell
02:26First rounders before Sewell Hutch JMO Gibbs Campbell and Arnold now. I want to be fair here too, though
02:33Penny so was drafted
02:35Sixth overall seventh overall something like that
02:39Okay, and it would have been really interesting had Atlanta done the right thing and taken pen a Sewell
02:44And then what would the Lions have done?
02:46So that's a top eight pick then you've got Aidan Hutchinson who was second overall
02:52and
02:53Then the other picks they had were a good
02:56Was 12 Gibbs was 12 Campbell was 18. Yeah, and they traded back with with Gibbs
03:02But yeah, these are these are higher picks than what those previous ten. There was a couple in there
03:06Yeah, and it could have flat-out bust. Yeah, but you look at brown was tens. The answer was five
03:12Yeah, but Tomlinson and reef and Davis those are guys in the 20s, yeah, yeah Nick Fairley was 13
03:19And the higher you are Terran Arnold's 24 though. So why no, this is this is a real test here to see I
03:25Happen to love the pick because I think he's just this maybe the best corner in the draft and
03:30Certainly in the top two in my mind
03:33With the with whatever research I did and take that with a grain of salt
03:36But I viewed him as one or two among the corners
03:39I couldn't believe they got him where they got him
03:41But that's what happens when you have a run on offensive players and it pushed everything back. I love it
03:46I I'm dying to see what he is
