With a big win over the Lakers, did the Pistons just put the NBA on notice?

00:05doug karsh scott anderson 97 one great to be with you champ and chump posted on our website
00:11very impressed with the champ call check it out nine someone the ticket.com in the meantime
00:15i was talking about this piston game last night and i will tell you what the pistons did best
00:24i'm not gonna say it decided the game but it was on display in the on the in the final
00:28play of the
00:28game and for people who missed it the pistons are playing the lakers last night and the pistons
00:32have a one point lead and the lakers have the basketball there was a lot of uh manipulation
00:37of who's going to get the last shot so like when there's 35 seconds left uh lakers got a shot
00:42up
00:43quick uh to cut it to one knowing that they would get the basketball back um but but the way
00:50it went
00:50down was first the lakers had a one point deficit and the basketball and the pistons
00:58got to stop and this this was this was their defense on display but then after a couple of
01:07free throws they had a three-point lead and the lakers called timeout and moved the ball in the
01:11front court and had it there for you know with like seven seconds left eight seconds left down three
01:17and under those circumstances when you have a three-point lead it is common practice especially
01:25inside five seconds to go to foul and put the lakers on the line and the they have to make
01:32the
01:32first to miss the second one intentionally and try and get it back up and in or you know make
01:37them both
01:37and then foul the pistons and you know you end up you run out of time when a team does
01:43that to you
01:45pistons didn't foul and i thought it was really interesting that they didn't foul but jb bickerstaff
01:51after the game used a term that i really liked and he said look with our team and the defense
01:58that we
01:58play and the versatility we have the guys can switch and still guard people we can get the stop on
02:06command
02:06and that's what they went with and here are the lakers with you know they've won more close games than
02:12just about anybody in the league other than the pistons and the and and luca got what a 38 foot
02:20off a one foot fade away three point shot like the pistons completely blew up that play now it wasn't
02:26the greatest inbound pass from lebron it got knocked away and then the lakers tracked it down but that
02:31was it a shot had no prayer like the pistons they got in the hands of the guy who they
02:35wanted to shoot
02:36it and who can get off his own shot anytime he wants but to your point it wasn't just that
02:41that
02:41play was indicative of the whole night uh the lakers were eight of 29 from three point shots for three
02:48point shots last night eight of 29 is 28 they did the job yep but i mean that leaning on
02:56your defense
02:56leaning on the strength of your team not going with the standard operating procedure of hey we're just
03:01going to foul and that you know there's nothing wrong with fouling in that situation people could argue
03:04i'd still rather have them foul but jb said look with our with our team play you know play to
03:11your
03:11strengths we can get stops they got that stop there and that i couldn't believe how bad a shot the
03:16lakers got off like i was like it was bad i was thrilled absolutely thrilled i think they were
03:20probably surprised that they they weren't given free throws or that they weren't getting a that
03:25they weren't the pistons weren't fouling maybe yeah maybe that was it but how about lebron didn't have
03:30a bucket until into the second half now he did almost have a triple double
03:34it's funny third quarter is that when he got his first basket yeah it was it was maybe with a
03:39midway and i don't remember i don't remember seeing the exact time but um you know i just i i
03:45i find him
03:47to be a superstar that's all too well aware of himself yeah that makes sense it does and and i
03:56i don't like
03:57to bag on lebron because i think off the court i think he does some amazing things yeah and i
04:01think he's a
04:02school he started he's great right he's and and there's no denying his talent people get prickly
04:08about lebron when you start to ask is he the greatest of all time and then everybody you know
04:12comes out and defending everybody they want to defend which is fine but you know i can i think i
04:18can separate everything and compartmentalize it and recognize you're a great player you're awesome
04:22you're probably a great human being off the court too i just don't like watching to play anymore
04:26um but i started thinking last night when they started mentioning you know he hasn't scored yet
04:31and i'm like he's got he's got a bunch of i was thinking shut his ass out oh that would
04:36have been
04:36fantastic but my thought was i i went to a different place i went to a place like this is
04:40all part of
04:41lebron's script and he wants to if this is going to be his last game in detroit he wants to
04:45rewrite
04:45that script to make it like that playoff game where he had the 25 points in the fourth quarter
04:50and he's just going to go off i thought for sure he was just going to demand a ball in
04:53the fourth
04:54quarter and sure enough he ended up with what 10 points in the fourth or whatever yeah and he
04:58finished one rebound shot of a triple double but um yeah i i'm so because he'll find a way to
05:05make
05:05it about him so you think that he literally didn't score his first bucket till into the second half
05:10by his design to create another lebron centric storyline that's right good god our our radar is so
05:18up with him i think he's i think he's milking the finger injury you think he's literally not scoring
05:23on purpose yeah well i think what happens is don't shake your head at us it could be true
05:28i haven't scored yet you know what i'm gonna do i'm gonna come up with a big fourth quarter that's
05:32what i'm gonna do yeah oh man i've heard it all you just you guys aren't you guys aren't saying
05:38anything new people believe this for sure i'm not saying you're not telling the truth on some of it
05:42either by the way well we have the license we said it was a great guy off the court yeah
05:45now we have
05:46license to say whatever we want all right here's a feedback coming in to the carson anderson inbox
05:50and we do appreciate all your phone calls text tweets well hang on where do you stay on the
05:55lebron do you think do you smoke the finger injury yes he cares way way too much about how other
06:00people
06:01you know view him and so he's not himself you know he's not organically himself which i think would
06:06be a great he's a great player there's no denying that and but he cares too much about being liked
06:11and so and his legacy and all this other stuff that stuff will take care of itself if you're that
06:16great lebron but i mean i think he's got people behind him telling him to do things people behind
06:21him doing things for him so i think that all plays a role do you think that if any other
06:26team in the
06:27nba had the first pick that year other than cleveland that would have been possible to get uh somebody to
06:34take darko first because all the hype about darko in that draft um or carmelo at three but because he
06:40was a hometown kid from from ohio that they had to they were locked in we're getting lebron or is
06:45he just i mean going back he was so far and away this amazing player i just wonder if if
06:51any other
06:51team had you know if the phoenix suns are the first pick in the draft i would answer this how
06:57old
06:57was nico harrison at that point and where was he was he running the only guy that would pick darko
07:02so look i mean lebron's 41 what he's doing is on it's unbelievable to be as good as he is
07:09still at
07:0941 and and so that also means when that draft happened that was a million years ago like if
07:15you're i mean i can't think about that i feel like 24 25 you don't remember when he was coming
07:21up and
07:21and the way i remember that there's no way in hell anybody would have taken anybody but lebron
07:26right i mean his his high school games were on tv yeah at a time when high school games were
07:31not on tv
07:32right and he would have been the number one pick as a junior in high school so yeah to answer
07:35your
07:35question gator probably he was gonna be the number one pick no matter what i know the 360 and spitball
07:40on an idea but i don't think there's a chance in hell anybody would have taken darko over lebron
07:44even joe dumars there's so much hype even nico harrison oh you never know with him i guess all right
07:50here's the feedback pistons putting the lakers and the rest of the league on notice they are still
07:54legit without kate cunningham that's from an unnamed texter danis jenkins best player on the court last
07:59night dominating the lakers that's from an unnamed texter from jacob in minnesota i don't know if
08:05it's the league telling the officials but whenever the pistons play the game just gets called different
08:09the refs let the teams play they sure did well maybe we should like that uh from an unnamed
08:16texter cannot believe how much everyone is overreacting to a late regular season win the
08:20lakers would sweep the pistons in the playoffs okay so a couple things about that the lakers had won
08:25nine in a row they'd won nine in a row going into that game it had been a number of
08:33years
08:33since they last won 10 in a row they were well aware of it i mean this is i don't
08:38know whether
08:39what is i asked this person then you tell us what the appropriate reaction is if you think this is
08:43overreacting is that from shrek under a bridge i don't know who it's because because to me
08:50you know what it is captain you guys are overreacting this is a fan base and a media
08:59group it's trying to figure out what the pistons are without kate here for a while
09:03so any evidence that we get good or bad is helping define who they are if kate were playing
09:10kind of know who they are without kate
09:14we're looking to try and figure out who this team is because that kate injury could linger into
09:18the playoffs this team has aspirations of winning the east and and at this point we're trying to
09:25outlast the kate injury the pistons are trying to stay alive as long as they can without kate
09:32because if kate gets if you get into the second round they're not beating anybody in the second
09:35round without kate and they're probably not beating the you know they're not beating the lakers in a
09:40seven game series without kate but we're asking can they beat philly without kate can they beat
09:44orlando without kate and and so i am excuse us and please tell us what the appropriate reaction should
09:52be but it's a fan base that's a little on edge and it's a media group that's still trying to
09:58define
09:59this group so to you sir i respectfully say get bent oh oh my i said respectfully yeah qualified what
10:09do
10:09you mean it's an overreaction two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven who is this
10:14team without kate because if he if this lingers into the playoffs it could be one and done
10:19which would be a disaster which would be a season-ending injury essentially you know what they are
10:26without kate cunningham they're a scrappy bunch of players it's probably still a playoff team and
10:31everyone's saying they've got to find a robin to jalen duran's batman right they probably are
10:37more like an eight seed than a one seed well without kate of course it feels accurate but
10:46two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven it's carson anderson ninety seven one
