Leeds reflects on nationalising the railways

The new government has pledged to renationalise the railways - do you think this is a positive move? How would you rate the current state of services and prices, and do you believe this change will lead to improvements?

00:00I honestly think that since they went private, they got worse.

00:04You get crowded trains, you get trains not turning up,

00:07you get, I don't know, leaves on the line and things.

00:10I think we'd be better off if they re-nationalised them,

00:13but they can't do any worse.

00:15I think more than just the trains should be nationalised,

00:19to be honest with you.

00:20I think all infrastructure should be nationalised at the minute,

00:24you know, especially trains,

00:26because it is an absolute mess at the minute.

00:29But I also think, you know, gas, electric, water, telecoms,

00:33all should be nationalised at the minute,

00:35because it's more about making money

00:37than it is helping people for me,

00:39and I work within one of those areas as well.

00:41Generally speaking, the trains are really good.

00:43The only thing I've noticed is sometimes they can be late quite a lot,

00:47and I know it's not always their fault,

00:49but it would be good to see some improvements on punctuality,

00:53especially because I've ended up missing some connections a few times,

00:56and that's been a bit hard to get a new train.
