00:20Rail users are being asked to plan ahead and build in extra time into travel schedules, with engineering work scheduled
00:28during the bank holiday weekends of the 2nd to the 4th of May and the 23rd to the 25th of
00:34May, when fewer passengers typically travel.
00:37The projects include essential upgrades to the track, structures and drainage, supporting the long-term resilience of one of the
00:45busiest routes in the country.
00:46The work includes the installation of bridge beams at Landing Lane in York, which is part of the Wider York
00:53Central Regeneration Project.
00:55The work has been undertaken over a single weekend, meaning the crane hire and other key resources is for a
01:02shorter single period of time, saving £1.25m.
01:06There will also be a renewal of three sets of points at Tolerton, where landslip mitigation work will also stabilise
01:14embankments and reduce the risk of ground movement, keeping the tracks safe and reliable.
01:18Rail replacement bus services will be in operation.
01:22Meanwhile, Trans-Pennine Route upgrade engineering work continues throughout May and June, affecting travel up to the 25th of May.
